We have alot of space. RV's are welcome, and will be parked on the south and west side of the observing field. Tent, Car, and Popup campers will be free to locate anywhere in the camping area. The north end of the field is generally used by imagers, and we will allow low noise generators to run as needed in this area. Golden State Star Party. Message from the director. Golden State Star Party. I've registered for GSSP. May I decide to bring another adult later? Yes you may, but advance registration will close on June 20. Just register them as you did yourself. Will it be safe to leave telescopes set up at all times? Absolutely. The observing site is on private property and is completely safe. Except during a modest public night on Sunday, only registered attendees and our vendors will be allowed on the telescope field. What time can we arrive and set up our equipment?

GSSP 2016 Site Plan. Click images to enlarge. Some minor changes in the layout have been made in 2011. The primary family/rv area will be closest to the gate, at the south end. The west side road will be closed beyond the Asteroid Belt to reduce afternoon dust. The hospitality area will be on the west side, and the vendors on the east side. Friday, August 24, 2012. GSSP 2012 Observing Report. The Golden State Star Party is a yearly event held under very dark skies near Adin, in Northern California. How dark? It is on the fantastic Dark Sky Finder right on the edge of a black zone. You can look all over California on the map and find only a handful of black sky sites, and most are tiny islands. True, this is on the edge of a grey zone, but compared to my normal semi-dark observing location, Joshua Tree, CA. Forever a piece of me in California.

This is an event held around the first new moon in March, at the Leonard Mow Dark Sky Site.
