Open 7 Days, 9am to 5pm. Explore Goldfields in one of two ways, or if you have the time, combine both (at the same price) for a two hour journey of discovery. The Goldfields Experience ( GE ) One hour. The tour finishes at the Goldfield’s mine where a California sluice gun is fired up to reveal its awesome water pressure used to dislodge gold bearing ore, Next, the stamper battery used to crush the gold bearing rocks brought out from the adjacent mine. Prices: Adults $25 Children $10 (inc GST).

Open 7 Days, 9am to 5pm. Tours of Goldfields provide visitors with an insight as to how the gold was won . Mining for gold was reliant on water power from water races high in the hillsides overlooking the site with numerous sluice guns carving out vast areas of the hillside. The power generated by the sluice guns is demonstrated as part of every tour of the site alongside the operation of one of a very few stamper batteries (used to crush the gold-bearing ore) still functioning in New Zealand.
