Village Co-operative sewing machines. New skills have been learnt and the members are proud of their achievements as well as providing money for their families. The co-operative has developed as clothing is now manufactured for sale in the local markets and a tie and dye workshop has been formed. The co-operative is run by an elected committee. Enclosure Wall and Garden. Growing 10 different types of fruit and vegetables. All the main business of the village – meetings, celebrations, etc. takes place in one main area. This area has now been developed into a compound by the erection of an enclosure wall. A container crammed with materials left Amlwch on the 9th December 2010headed for Felixstowe and thereafter to the Gambian capital (Banjul) where it arrived on the 7th January 2011. Provision of Workshops - Cyfeillion Sankwia Friends

Out of necessity the villagers have retained their traditional skills in both metalwork and woodwork. In order to develop these skills and to provide training for the village youth it was decided to build some workshops. The charity provided the required materials (cement, aggregate, steel reinforcing rods, roofing etc). Ambulance and Medical Equipment. The clinic serving the village is located in a town called Soma which is about 5 miles from Sankwia. Persons requiring urgent medical attention were forced to walk to the clinic. These would have included women in labour, children and the aged. Often the patient was too ill to make the journey and many died without receiving the appropriate treatment, albeit of a basic nature. Dafydd, Guto and Huw with the village elders. A representative of the charity visited the village in December 2005, and discussed with members of the Sankwia Village Development Association, and the village elders the needs of the village.
