Urban Jungle Golfito, Costa Rica

It may seem to visitors, that the center of the city has nothing to oﬀer except a few pubs. Far from it, just 5 minutes’ walk and you are located at the gate of the former waterworks of the city. With the settlement of the present center of Golﬁto, called Pueblo Civil was supplied from here with drinking water. Today, the old waterworks are history. The property is now a Santuario de la Vida Silvestre or in English, a nature reserve. We offer two guided tours through the jungle behind the Pueblo Civil.

Puntarenitas is actually the beach for the locals. Whenever time (and money) permits, they go over there. This beach is opposite of the small Gulf and is equipped with everything you need for a day trip. The food in the small rustic restaurant is very good and reasonably priced. The beach is also suitable for parties. On this beach you will find two restaurants. The fare to Cacao Beach is between U.S. $ 3 and U.S. $ 6 with a collective taxi boat.

This small port city is a narrow strip along Golfito Bay backed against steep green hills covered with pristine rainforest, with the Golfo Dulce lying seaward outside Golfito Bay.
