My Secret Blog: It's all greek to me. Literally.
http://tradingthemoonforthesun.blogspot.com/2011/10/its-all-greek-to-me-literally.html
It's all greek to me. Literally. Finishing out my season with a few trips in Crete has been such an incredible blessing. I have yet to go to an area that Backroads travels and not be entirely impressed, but this has been even more than I imagined. I am surrounded by amazing coleaders, new friends and contagious love for life and energy in the culture. In contrast to their afternoons, their celebrations and dancing is extremely acrobatic and a real demonstration of athleticism! Trees grow in the middle of...

This one's for you mom. I have done a little travel since I last posted. I'm sorry that I have neglected to fill you in, but I have been enjoying my time. The less time on the computer the better. These days are filled up with part time work, bike rides, and sitting around with my friends. What feels most important right now is the time I spend with my family and Dylan. I went to get a bike the next day so I could ride around and get used to the traffic. I soon realized it's not actually chaotic....I wok...

Look kids. Big Ben.Parliament! I rounded out the end of my own European adventure with a stop in London town. My good friend Haley is completing her studies at Kings College and it was the perfect opportunity to decompress with a little bit of home away from home. The next day we found what I dubbed "mini-Portland" on Brick Lane. The grungy, alternative side of town. We even saw 2 Boy Georges. Two. Then a park block with a light up floor. I have set up. Next stop HOME! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). This is...

I know it may not look like it based on the reports and photographic proof, but since I left Portland (March 25th), I have been working nearly nonstop. It just so happens that my work involves a lot of wonderful experiences. Regardless, just like the rest of the world, Backroads leaders get tired and need some time off to recharge the old batteries. Another friend from Italy, Emily, came over on the infamous Bari-Dubrovnik ferry and she has been the perfect distraction for me. Most of what I discovered a...

My Secret Blog: Look out the window
http://tradingthemoonforthesun.blogspot.com/2011/09/look-out-window.html
Look out the window. Last year I flew over 30,000 miles. This year I am on track for that and more. My first trip to France last May I had butterflies in my stomach doing double back flips with excitement, but then over time travel time became more of a chore. It is just a means to get to the next destination. And then I remembered to look out the window. How could I forget? This world is far too beautiful to not pay attention. Keeping with the theme, I took advantage of another week off for more adventures with great women. 3 girls 3 bikes 1 generous boat captain = stow away awesomeness. We spent a couple nights sleeping on the top deck. Got rained on around 3am of the second night. We also caught a LOT of z's while stashed away down under with guests milling about and Brad and Dave directing them which way to go and what to do. No responsibility. It can be incredibly liberating. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). How the secret began.

Upon our return from Bari, presearch continued. And we even (somehow) received a compliment from our regional manager about how much work we fit in to our 10 days. "You have had a VERY productive presearch! The ultimate deception = success. Here are a few more photos. Ps This is a hottentot fig. Or as I call it: the hot-to-trot fig. They close up at night time or when it's raining. They are my favorite. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). How the secret began. My communication with the universe.

Far from a burden. If I ONLY got paid for driving vans all over Europe. This job is so unique and all the people that work for this company are so interesting that it often accelerates the standard friendship timeline. It's a process that is hard to describe. Within days of meeting someone you are often sharing responsibilities, a room in a hotel adn hours and hours and hours of conversation. Hence the beginning of Team Awesome Adriatic and the 2011 Snuggle and Snore Tour. Out with a bang. As discussed b...

First trip of the year! The first trip of the season here in Croatia was designed by moi (with a ton of help from Lynny of course! This is exciting because it is part of that "promotion" I accepted back in April. I am part of the decision making process now, which is great because I have a hard time keeping my big mouth shut about my opinions of the trips I run anyway. It might as well count for something. Overall it was a smooth run! Is a little of what the guests see. Let the separation anxiety begin.
