The airport book I was reading ( The Almost Nearly Perfect People: Behind the Myth of the Scandinavian Utopia. Described it as an essential feature of Danish life. So at dinner that night I asked our hosts what this word meant, and, importantly, how it was pronounced. I had to spell it out before they could understand me. Friday, 12 August 2016. One of the photos that captivated the world this week was - for a change - a positive image of love and devotion. Look at the photo of Brazilian rugby player Isadora Carullo saying yes to her girlfriend Marjorie Enya's proposal after the Olympic Rugby 7s final. This is fearless love. I'm sure I'm late to the party, but I had no idea that Brazil - a South American country, a bastion of machismo, had such enlightened views on same sex marriage. It's been legal there since 2013.
