Purple and green are my favorite colors and I love butterflies so I used those things to make the outfit! Here is a picture of me at the Ren Faire in full garb! I was very comfortable wearing it while standing. Then we sat down to eat. that did not go so well. I do love it though! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Blogs I Enjoy Reading. Girly Do's By Jenn.

Bella started working in it a few weeks ago and I am more and more amazed with every lesson that we read together. Let me start by saying that even if you don't homeschool you should get these books for you kids or even grandkids! They are fun and easy use. At the end of each lesson is a section called "Your turn to play" aka exercises. T...

Previously about my inspiration for making a Burgundian gown for the Renaissance Faires this year. I wanted something pretty but without a corset! I can't stand chasing my children in a corset! I drafted a pattern, made a muslin, fixed the pattern, almost ran out of fabric, made the dressed, and fixed the dress. Check back soon for that post! Bella a...

Monday, September 23, 2013. An Adventure: Week 5 of School '13-'14. Our week started out with an adventure! We started our adventure book this week. To introduce the new book our curriculum suggested a scavenger hunt! The kids LOVED it so much that they wanted to do it over and over again. In science we talked about how light moves like waves and we blew across the top of a dish of water. I am not sure Bella understood but she enjoyed seeing the waves move! That is her in the pink shirt kicking the ball!

Friday, April 8, 2011. Underbust Corset for Renaissance Faires. I go to Renaissance Faires every year. I have 3 different outfits I have worn in the past. This year I am making another new one. My baby is almost 6 months old and therefore still breastfeeding. None of my old outfits will work to feed him in. So I started a new outfit. A simple underdress with a underbust corset that I wear with my own undergarments. It will be trimmed in black satin. I will post finished pictures when I finish the dre...

A Mom's Diversions: May 2013
http://www.amomsdiversions.com/2013_05_01_archive.html
Thursday, May 2, 2013. This year I decided to make an outfit without a corset! Who wants to chase children around wearing a corset? Here is the fabric I bought. deciding the fine details of what to make has been hard. It looks like I will be making something like a Burgundian Gown. These are two pictures of my inspiration:. I may make a faux fur collar that can be pinned to the dress for cold days. I also will not have a train because I have to chase after children and will be outside. Girly Do's By Jenn.

A Mom's Diversions: June 2012

Monday, June 11, 2012. We went to the New Hampshire Renaissance Faire. In May. Bella wanted to wear a yellow dress. Toward they end I realized that she looked like Princess Belle! I bought this pattern last year for a $1 at Joann Fabric. On one of their sale weekends! We used the gypsy pattern for the main dress but made it a size big so it was long enough and it would last longer. I also let her take my lace parasol that a friend had given me! All day it kept unraveling and picking up twigs and leaves!
