Plans for the Good Samaritan House began in 1997 when the church community in Granite City, IL, conducted a needs assessment for Madison County, IL, this assessment revealed an overwhelming demand for shelter for those who find themselves experiencing homelessness. We celebrated with one mother and her children just recently when she graduated from cosmetology school. When she and her children came into the shelter, she had lost her job and did not even have a high school diploma. Within three months, she had obtained her GED, earned her way into the Transitional Housing Program, and enrolled in cosmetology school! We provide food, housing, supplies and will assist you in getting counseling, legal aid, public aid, medical care and child care! Create a free website.
