Sunday, January 09, 2011. Sahara Smith @ Flipnotics. Found this camera thingy lying around, unused and covered in dust. Took it out and made some pictures. We listened to Sahara Smith's album Myth of the Heart. All over Western Australia at the end of last year. I found out at the last minute that she was playing a secret show in Austin. Myself and about 30 other people were treated to a great 90 minutes of new songs, in a tiny back room of a coffee shop. A rare treat. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

CamAbs: May 2009
http://camabs.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html
Saturday, May 2, 2009. Finally: something new on CamerA AbsurdA. I had a large shoot planned, mid March. I had already found a location, the female model and the Make up artist. About a week before the shoot, I felt that the communication between me and the model wasn't great. I had to tell her no and find a new one on short notice. And I did. And a damned good one too! Ofcourse, we'll never know how it would have turned out with the other model, but working with Nadine. Some fun facts about the song.
CamAbs: Photography tips: Bad weather
http://camabs.blogspot.com/2009/01/photography-tips-bad-weather.html
Saturday, January 24, 2009. Photography tips: Bad weather. Photographers are heavily biased towards nice weather. If we were to judge the word by pictures alone, we would be inclined to believe that we live under a clear blue sky for 90% of the time. Of course, we don't. Photographers just don't like getting wet, so they only go out when the weather is nice. Such a shame, since bad weather can be a very interesting subject. Bad weather means bad light. It's okay if your pics are a little darker than what...

Monday, January 12, 2009. Pretty much like the previous photography tip, this is an encouragement to go out and try rather than a tip. This time, I want to you to go out (or stay in) and look for anything repeating. Could be architecture, could be household equipment, could be anything. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Doonster: Pictures and thoughts. Random thoughts, photos and the World as I see it. Monday, 22 February 2010. My friend Caroline le Barbier is having a photo exhibition in London of some of her photos from Nepal and Ecuador. Below is the flyer. A bit of self-interest in this one as I helped prep the originals for print (so if the prints are rubbish, it's probably my fault). Prints are for sale, too, in aid of Medecins sans Frontieres. So, if you're in London, drop by and take a look. Links to this post.

Doonster: Pictures and thoughts. Random thoughts, photos and the World as I see it. Friday, 30 October 2009. Lumix LX3 firmware update: in action. Lisbon, October 2009. A photo on a photography blog. Last time I posted a quick view on the Lumix LX3 firmware update (rev 2.1). Last weekend I was putting I to use in the pleasant sunshine of Lisbon. The main way I was using the new lens memory function was to set a fixed focal length of around 40mm-e and zone focus at f/4. Links to this post. As a result, I ...

Doonster: Pictures and thoughts. Random thoughts, photos and the World as I see it. Thursday, 1 July 2010. I've finally completed my first submission for the year. Find it here. Some points worth noting about my experience in doing the layout:. I was limited to an all electronic process, not having commissioned a printer since moving house (fully 6 months ago). I normally print the pages on small paper swatches and rearrange the on the floor/table. Page size is also an interesting challenge. having b...

Doonster: Pictures and thoughts. Random thoughts, photos and the World as I see it. Monday, 21 December 2009. Another post, whatever next. Flight delayed, time to burn in the lounge. An interesting article on HDR techniques. Up on Luminous Landscape. And just as interesting the links to the BBC website on the UK Landscape Photographer of the Year. To start, I agree with Alexandre Buisse on using HDR (and he makes some stunning images, go check out his book. And then there are the comments on the BBC site.

Doonster: Pictures and thoughts. Random thoughts, photos and the World as I see it. Friday, 28 August 2009. I've not been doing any photography lately. Computer is still not working (although I had it going briefly a few days ago, before cocking it up shortly thereafter) but that's not much of an excuse. But this morning I realised that I've not been feeling a need for the additional creative outlet that photography provides. Links to this post. Labels: Thoughts on art. Thursday, 20 August 2009. Chief Executive of Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust. Wednesday, 25 August 2010. Sparrowhawk recently spotted at Coombe Hill Nature Reserve by Zsuzsanna Bird. Being an ecologist can result in one taking an opinion that is diametrically opposed to that of simple logic. A classic example is that of the bird of prey populations that have made a spectacular recovery over the past 30 years. Surely more raptors must mean less songbirds? Not according to my understanding! In a piece entitled Are Predators to Blame?

Gordon n. M c. Real estate developer Doug Sutherland thinks it’s just another sweltering summer day in Chicago. But when the foreman demolishing his late father’s rundown office building unearths a skull and human bones encased in a crumbling Greek column, Sutherland is suddenly propelled into a cauldron of greed, sadism, and murder. Lies pile upon lies, bodies upon bodies as Sutherland scrambles to unravel his tangled legacy and expose a web of political and financial corruption.
