Attorney, Writer, and Ph.D. Student. Edited on 6/8/16 to add link to Thomas Friedman’s NYT column today… (at bottom). It’s time for some integrity in our political system. In the last two weeks, a number of GOP lawmakers have either endorsed, supported, or at least said they would vote for the presumptive Republican nominee for President, Donald Trump. Attorney, Writer, and Ph.D. Student. Life Needs a Little Music. I don’t know about you, but after weeks (months) of watching politics, wars, and generally depressing news about our world on television and online, I’m in need of a little musical antidote. So, I decided to spend an evening reminiscing and enjoying some of my favorite songs and videos from the last 35 (eek! In no particular order…. Bruce Hornsby and the Range – The Way It Is (1986). Crowded House – Don’t Dream It’s Over. April 7, 2016.

Attorney, Writer, and Ph.D. Student. Personal Code of Ethics. I just completed a class in my doctoral program at CMU. And as part of our coursework we had to develop our own personal/professional code of ethics based on past experience and on what we had covered in class. It was an interesting assignment which caused us to look inward and really think about what morals, values, and beliefs mattered the most to us and would help shape our work in educational leadership. Seek to understand rather than judge.

Attorney, Writer, and Ph.D. Student. Just can’t stay silent any longer…[Rant alert]. I truly don’t care what someone’s political viewpoint is…everyone is entitled to their opinion and their vote…that’s one of the great things about our democracy. Family members like he talks to and about people he opposes? If you had a disabled friend or relative, and he mocked that person, would that. Be acceptable to you? Is it OK for someone to treat you. Attorney, Writer, and Ph.D. Student. In the wake of all the heartbreaking news this week in our world…I do what I often do when overwhelmed with stress and sadness…I turn to music. No particular rhyme or reason to the songs or artists. I like to analogize them to comfort food…this is some of my “comfort music.” Music has healing properties…it can soothe, uplift, energize, reassure, empathize, and comfort. Second video with the lyrics – https:/ youtu.be/ejPCl-TV-Wo). From J C K. July 10, 2016. Sense, not ...

Attorney, Writer, and Ph.D. Student. General posts related to philosophy, meditation, religion, spirituality, and other deep thoughts. Personal Code of Ethics. I just completed a class in my doctoral program at CMU. I thought I’d post mine here, and encourage others to come up with their own. In a world where we have so much conflict, violence, and upheaval going on–particularly in our political system–it’s good to remind ourselves of what really matters. Treat others as you wish to be treated. Honor the...

Attorney, Writer, and Ph.D. Student. Dad, Mom, and me (age 4 or so) – 1969ish. I miss him every day, but I’m comforted by knowing that he is watching over my Mom and me, and that he is reunited with his birth family.
