Sounds like running your own business has driven you crazy! Well, it has, at least a little, but what I have learned in my first year of owning a business is that you have to be a little crazy to do it all! Have you ever eaten an an Original Pancake House? Sunday, May 2, 2010. The Sun, The Wind, and The 10 Commandments. A friend of mine sent this cartoon to me the other day, and while it's a funny image, I started thinking about the 10 Commandments, and the bible, and how humans have, for both pure, and selfish reasons, have distorted the message over time. The 10 commandments themselves are pretty straight-forward (in my opinion) but what's most important? No, "Thou Shalt not Flog" is not a real Commandment. or is it? One day, the wind and the sun were ha...

Saturday, May 30, 2015. How to Say, "I'm Dying," and Keep Living Anyway. What age could you pass for? This little survey popped up in my social media news feed last night. Ignoring the fact that the question ended with a preposition (the bane of my grammar-queen existence),. What the hell; why not? I said out loud to myself. Clicking through to the link, I was asked and answered questions like, "Do you like your body? And other ridiculous queries that really had nothing to do with age. I thanked her, fee...

It is more likely a function of our. Beliefs about who we are. Tony Robbins. Why do we do anything? Why do we participate in activities? Whether work, or play, there is a reason behind everything we do. An actor might ask: " What's my motivation? An opportunist might ask: " What's in it for me? Every dream of escape in that ...

As a first step, I purchased "Writing Dialogue" by Tom Chiarella, which is a great book, and I highly recommend it. In Tom's book, there are a number of exercises for gathering dialogue, as well as recognizing the nuances and rhythm of the way we say things. It is amazing what comes out of my mouth some days! Grover, stop licking the sofa!

Sunday, September 14, 2014. Candid Confession of a Single Mom Who Hates the Term, "Single Mom.". Guess what I just figured out? Wait for it. I'm a single mom. I have looked, at times, like a flake; I've broken dates (yes, I've stood guys up in the name of my son's sniffles, lack of a free sitter, or just plain fatigue those of you who have stuck it out as my friends anyway, you know who you are, and officially. I'm sorry) and missed events and meetings because of two reasons:. Invited me out, YOU. I am a...
