Running, triathlon, racing, and everything inbetween. The Art and Science of Long Distance Triathlon. May 28, 2015. But aside from the clumsiness, and forgetfulness, which included putting frozen bananas for my smoothie back in the fridge instead of the freezer, and losing almost everything, I’ve been relatively calm about Ironman 70.3 Raleigh. Things I can’t control. Things I can control. Commented that she had ridden the new course and it was no worse than the old course. So that’s cleared th...What I ...

Running, triathlon, racing, and everything inbetween. August 5, 2015. Lester said it was going to hurt. I didn’t want to ask how much. Amy had just returned from France and said she was up for something new. I didn’t really have a choice, anyway. I needed to ride Mount Weather. I need to be ready for Austria, just 3.5 weeks away. The bike course at the 70.3 World Championship. Bike Course Ironman 70.3 Zell am See / Kaprun. In Bluemont, Snickersville Turnpike goes straight up, like a wall. Before we g...

Running, triathlon, racing, and everything inbetween. Ironman 70.3 Raleigh: More Than I Bargained For. June 7, 2015. I am feeling incredibly lucky right now. Not because I had a fantastic race (I didn’t) but because I dared to dream, and my dream came true. But to really explain what this means, I have to start at the beginning, which was two years ago. But I finished 14th at Raleigh 2015. Would a slot roll down that far? Ready to head to Raleigh…as soon as I remember to grab my shoes…. I got a great nig...

Running, triathlon, racing, and everything inbetween. TriRock Philly: Not a Tri, Not a Du, Then What is it? July 9, 2015. I’m carrying my bike because I don’t want to get mud in the wheels and the chain and everywhere else and have an on-course disaster because of it. And my feet are bare because I don’t like running in bike shoes and certainly don’t want mud in the cleats before I jam them into the pedals. Super cute and very peaceful room with great hosts…beats a hotel! Wet bike…wet everything. I get t...

Not My Race
http://www.racingtales.com/2015/07/27/not-my-race
Running, triathlon, racing, and everything inbetween. July 27, 2015. But when my 11 year old son raced his first triathlon – BRATS Sizzling Summer Youth Tri. 8211; last Sunday, he was cool as a cucumber. He set up his transition area like he’d done it 100 times, when in fact he hadn’t done it at all, because he refused to practice transitions when I suggested it. You can image how hard it was to let go of that. I had a great view of his swim start…. We waited on one of the corners so we could yell some e...

Running, triathlon, racing, and everything inbetween. St Michael’s Half Marathon Race Recap. May 21, 2015. Yesterday I received a lovely note from a girl who used my race ambassador code to get a discount on her entry to St. Michael’s half marathon. This was my 3rd running of the Half Marathon and my 2nd time as a race ambassador. Why do I keep coming back? The moment I passed Dave last year…. Dave and me looking all nice and clean the night before the race…. 8221; and we starting sprinting. The crow...

Parce-que chaque jour j’ai pense a trois. 8230; Nothing like bawling your eyes out while on the trainer. Geez. I need to get a grip. Followed by 45 mins on the bike, and then headed to Annapolis to watch this guy play baseball:. No idea where he gets his intensity from…. Monday – 50 min ride (15 miles) 15 min run (2 miles).

Running, triathlon, racing, and everything inbetween. Wants, Needs, Hopes, & Dreams. August 7, 2015. But I have a Half Ironman World Championship. In 3 weeks so I can have none of those things….not right now, anyway. Not that I’m dreaming I can even place at this race, but I do want to do my best, and for that, there are some sacrifices to be made. This isn’t a gripe or an attempt to garner sympathy, just the facts. Laying at the pool with a blizzard and a Guinness! Tagged With: 70.3. I usually try to ea...

The Gittelman Family: July 2011
http://fourgittelmans.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
Monday, July 18, 2011. Summer swimming comes to a close. The boys had their last Stingray meet on Saturday. It was a great way to end the season as they both qualified for the final 'A' meet (only Joshua qualified for the previous 'A' meets, in backstroke) which was at our home pool, and which we won! They will both have an easier time next year as they'll be at the top of their age groups. In fact, Joshua, having a late birthday, could actually stay in the 7/8 age group for two more years! Turning two a...
