Three Dimensions of Global Perspective Inventory. The GPI measures how students think, view themselves as people with cultural heritage, and relate to others from other cultures, backgrounds and values. There are three dimensions; each dimensions has two subscales. Degree of complexity of one's view of the importance of cultural context in judging what is important to know and value. Level of awareness of one's unique identity, sense of purpose, and degree of acceptance of one's identity.

The GPI is available in three forms to assess students' global perspective and experiences at critical points during college. The three forms share 35 core items. That allow for consistent assessment. Each form also has additional items that align with its purpose. The New Student Form (see sample). Assesses students' high school curricular and co-curricular experiences. It should be used at the beginning of the first semester in college. The General Form (see sample). The Study Abroad Form (see sample).
