Grace in the Community: Pressures Christians face: Connected or Community
http://graceinthecommunity.blogspot.com/2015/08/pressures-christians-face-connected-or.html
Grace in the Community. Monday, 3 August 2015. Pressures Christians face: Connected or Community. 8220;The greatest disease in the West today is not TB or leprosy, it is being unwanted, unloved and uncared for… There are many in the world who are dying for a piece of bread but there are many more dying for a little love.” Mother Teresa’s words are still true today aren’t they? The battle for Community not just Connectedness. But we also need to recognise the reality of sins impact on our desire for frien...

Grace in the Community: The election, the poor and the church: stop moaning and get loving
http://graceinthecommunity.blogspot.com/2015/05/the-election-poor-and-church-stop.html
Grace in the Community. Friday, 15 May 2015. The election, the poor and the church: stop moaning and get loving. I awoke last Friday morning to a shock election result. No-one had seen it coming. Though when you look back now the outcome seems, in some ways, to have been inevitable and obvious. However, I also woke up to a storm of Christians bemoaning the outcome for the poor, marginalise and oppressed in our society. What would they do? How would they survive even more cuts? Grace in the Community: Daily Reading: Acts 2v1-13
http://graceinthecommunity.blogspot.com/2015/08/daily-reading-acts-2v1-13.html
Grace in the Community. Sunday, 9 August 2015. Daily Reading: Acts 2v1-13. The disciples are waiting for the coming of the Spirit, waiting to start their mission, waiting to take the good news of Jesus to Jerusalem and beyond. Pentecost is the day they are waiting for. The day the promise is fulfilled. On the day of remembering that God keeps his word, that God is faithful, God faithfully keeps his word again as he puts his Spirit in the hearts of his people. The new, promised, long-awaited age has b...

Grace in the Community: Bible Reading: Acts 1:12-26
http://graceinthecommunity.blogspot.com/2015/08/bible-reading-acts-112-26.html
Grace in the Community. Friday, 7 August 2015. Bible Reading: Acts 1:12-26. How do we read the world? As I open the news website or listen to the radio how do I assimilate and make sense of what I am seeing or hearing? When some event impacts me personally how do I bring the Bible to bear on it whether that is something good or bad? Can they trust their leaders? What about the other disciples? Grace in the Community: Daily Bible Reading: Acts 1v12-26
http://graceinthecommunity.blogspot.com/2015/08/daily-bible-reading-acts-1v12-26.html
Grace in the Community. Saturday, 8 August 2015. Daily Bible Reading: Acts 1v12-26. Lots of ink has been spilt not on the last verses of Acts 1, but debating whether the actions recorded there are right or wrong. Should Matthias have been appointed or not? Should they just have waited and appointed Paul? I wonder if that's somewhat missing the point as the bible doesn't seem to raise this as an issue for debate. Labels: daily bible reading. Glen Hegg's Blog: Update - Tuesday 31st May
http://glenhegg.blogspot.com/2011/05/update-tuesday-31st-may.html
Tuesday, 31 May 2011. Update - Tuesday 31st May. I would ask you to pray today that the transfer goes well and does not cause any discomfort and that Glen settles quickly at the hospice, pray too for the family on what is going to be a very hard day for them, pray that they would know God's comfort and his strength. What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? As it is written:. We are confident...

http://glenhegg.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 14 June 2011. This is not goodbye it is goodnight. Friday was the cremation and thanksgiving service for Glen in Liverpool. It was a time of sadness and tears but also a time of laughter and hope, as we were reminded we were not saying goodbye to Glen but goodnight see you in the morning. Two passages from the bible which meant a lot to Glen were read:. You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous pers...
