Apron Strings: Dear Christians
http://shannonquiggle.blogspot.com/2012/08/dear-christians.html
Wednesday, August 01, 2012. Stop it. Stop all of it. Stop your mouths and your hate and your political logorrhea and love all people and obey your God. Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against one of your people but love your neighbor as yourself.". I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone - for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. Thanks, Shannon :).

Apron Strings: "Foolproof" Roasting
http://shannonquiggle.blogspot.com/2013/02/foolproof-roasting.html
Tuesday, February 05, 2013. I've tried to roast chicken in the past and I usually undercook it. I've tried to roast veggies in the past and I usually burn them to a crisp. How to find the middle ground? Roasted chicken and vegetables. 2 1/2 - 3 lbs bone-in chicken pieces (a whole cut-up chicken works). 3 tbs olive oil. 3-4 sprigs fresh thyme. Veggies (use what you like, omit what makes you gag). Broccoli, one bunch cut into florets. Carrots, 2 lbs, peeled and cut into 2 inch lengths. New potatoes, halved.

Apron Strings: A Deep and Thankful Breath
http://shannonquiggle.blogspot.com/2012/08/a-deep-and-thankful-breath.html
Wednesday, August 22, 2012. A Deep and Thankful Breath. Yesterday B started 5th grade at a new school. Previously she had been at the same school for 5 years. This was a big change. She seemed undaunted, in turns both excited and apprehensive. Anxious to see what it would be like, but nostalgic for the teachers and friends and campus she knew so well. When it came time to pick her up we went to her classroom door and of course there were no students inside. Luckily we met a veteran parent (Joe? Record la...

http://shannonquiggle.blogspot.com/2013/01/maid-simple-how-do-you-like-them-sad.html
Sunday, January 27, 2013. Maid Simple: How Do You Like Them Sad Apples, and Nose-to-Tail Cereal Boxing. I have two crazy-great tips for you this week, that could have come straight out of a budgeter's handbook. First, a delicious use for those disgustingly bruised, wrinkly, sad-looking apples in your crisper bin: Apple Crisp! Now, you've heard of nose-to-tail cooking, right? Where you use every part of the animal? Out of the packaging. Don't throw out the waxy bag that the cereal was in! 2 tsp lemon juice.

Apron Strings: Back to Reality: Clean Burrito Bowl
http://shannonquiggle.blogspot.com/2012/08/back-to-reality-clean-burrito-bowl.html
Friday, August 17, 2012. Back to Reality: Clean Burrito Bowl. Was it ever a relief. I found myself feeling more content and happier than I had almost all month. So now I'm back in the swing of things, making breakfast, lunches, and dinners. Girl Scout meetings and homework. Piano lessons and band practice. House cleaning and hardcore training. And I'm happy. Really, honestly happy. 1 cup uncooked brown rice. 1 15 oz can black beans. 1 sm onion, chopped. 1/2 red pepper, chopped. 1/2 green pepper, chopped.

Apron Strings: A Little Slice of Savory Heaven
http://shannonquiggle.blogspot.com/2011/10/little-slice-of-savory-heaven.html
Wednesday, October 19, 2011. A Little Slice of Savory Heaven. Sorry if this seems to be turning into a cooking blog lately, but honestly recipes are just so much easier to post than real posts. Although I am. Working on something that will hopefully be up this weekend. And by "working on" I mean I've thought about it a few times while showering. So there's that. But here's this! Who says clean chicken pot pie is an oxymoron? I have a recipe for it right here! 1 cup sliced carrots. 1 cup frozen green peas.

Apron Strings: Sixth Grade Shake-up
http://shannonquiggle.blogspot.com/2013/08/what-can-i-say-about-first-day-of.html
Wednesday, August 14, 2013. What can I say about the first day of school that hasn't already been said by a million mothers over hundreds of years? It's a day of trial and triumph. It's a test of patience and a trampling of emotions. It's raw. It's amazing. It's just like every other day but with a gut wrenching twist. My plan today was to drop her off because I thought it would look silly if I walked her in. After all it is. Middle school. But as we drove up she says "Look mom, there are.
