Im watching fresh tomatoes show up at market and the co-op and onto peoples counter tops, and I just cant quite make sense of the fact that I cant just grab one twenty feet outside my. Wednesday, July 18, 2012. Pave Paradise, Put Up a Parking Lot. This is the *worst* summer I've experienced as far as "urban homesteading" goes. Seriously, the cost/benefit analysis is making me shake my head. This drought and a destructive groundhog has me shaking my fist (and saying a truck load of filthy words, to boot). Never have I had to water the garden so often. My water bill is nearly double. I honestly stood at the chicken run and cried. Next year I'm growing grass and buying a swimming pool.

Is anyone else having trouble working due to Swine Flu Hysteria? She gave me the name and address of the people who made the decision and once I've calmed down I will compose a letter to them outlining the impact this has on laboring mothers (who are the hospital's paying. Customers) as well as doulas in the area who are already trying to function in a struggling economy and now have had our entire business shut down by forces entirely out of our control. I don't think I'll be able to do it without crying.

Our adventure at Volcan Irazu. Thursday, September 23, 2010. Yesterday we went to Volcan Irazu, about 1 1/2 hours from San Jose. It was a beautiful drive, but we couldn't believe it was Costa Rica! 262 feet down. Then there was the third. It was HUGE! Way, way, way deeper than 262 feet. At the bottom of this huge crater was not a lot of water, but. Around it the rock structure was incredible. So gigantic and indescribable! Despite of my stomach hurting, I really did enjoy the experience!
