30 Day No Trash Challenge: July 2008

Last day Coffee Filters. My Mother, who has so diligently followed along with my blogging over the past month, has changed some of her habits! So I feel like my 30 days has been successful—even though I didn't do the best job with the challenge—because I know this has had a positive influence somehow. She is now recycling, composting food scraps and saving dryer lint in paper towel tubes for kindling! But WHY she's still using paper towels after this post. That's one of the easiest switches to make, Mom!

30 Day No Trash Challenge: November 2008
http://notrashchallenge.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html
Want vs. Need. I find most of my trash comes from consuming. Whether it be the packaging on a new purchase or containers from take out. Today was the 17th Annual Buy Nothing Day. Which is an international protest against consumerism. Is not as extreme as what I was trying to do, it still makes a lot of sense just to take a day to reflect on really what we need rather than what we want. And really I am pretty lucky, and do not need as much as the general public would want me to believe. Links to this post.

30 Day No Trash Challenge: January 2009
http://notrashchallenge.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html
Been away for awhile. I really stepped away for awhile with this whole blog thing. I admit I got a little caught up with life and really didn't have anything "Trash Free" to post. It is more important now to live simply then just seven months ago when I started this blog. With the uncertainty of the economy everyone seems to be looking for ways to be more frugal. Or as I like to put it "being more mindful of what we consume". Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Meet the Trash Free. In the end...

30 Day No Trash Challenge: September 2008
http://notrashchallenge.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
WE BURNED THAT TRASH MOTHER OUT. It's been 30 days and we don't mess around with trash. We kicked it's A* . I can't wait for my t-shirt that says so! A few interesting tid-bits to recap the adventure. We made 1-2 large bags of trash per week at our house. We made LOTS of trash during the day at work. Bad trash too. Plastic silverware, Styrofoam trays, paper towels, and many more trash evils. We drank from straws, used paper napkins, and took plastic bags when shopping.the sin of all trash sins. Becky, be...
