The Femme Fermental: June 2012
http://femmefermental.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html
Tuesday, June 12, 2012. Lost Abbey at Long Last. Has always been a sort of mecca for me. Due to a scheme that I should not detail on the interwebs, I was a member of the Lost Abbey Sinners and Saints Club a few years ago. I went to great lengths to attain their limited release beers. As a result, I received emails from Lost Abbey about pickup only bottle releases that seemed like cruel taunts. The locals seemed to be devoid of stress; maybe that’s a southern California thing. People engaged me ...What ha...
The Femme Fermental: November 2010
http://femmefermental.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html
Tuesday, November 16, 2010. Alright, if for no other reason that to prove that I'm still alive, I need to make a blog post. And, I don't want to become a part of those statistics about defunct blogs. I was approaching the 6 month mark, and that is unacceptable. I will say that I have been training for a marathon for three months. This has seriously cut into my eating lifestyle. A Newport mainstay for 30 years, my Godfather has known the owners for quite sometime. On a Friday lunch, during the off-season,...
The Femme Fermental: February 2013
http://femmefermental.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html
Monday, February 25, 2013. This past weekend I returned to Amherst for the first time in nine months. I spent a mere thirty-one hours in Western Mass. And yet, that was all the time I needed. In thirty-one hours I did all of my favorite things and saw all of my favorite people in Amherst. And, ultimately, I found what I needed on my short trip. I wanted a reminder that all the emotions I felt in Amherst were real. I experienced those emotions and I am not experiencing them now. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
The Femme Fermental: July 2010
http://femmefermental.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html
Wednesday, July 21, 2010. Last night I had a chance to get to Matt Levin's new restaurant, Adsum. While I don't like to go to restaurants in their first week, sometimes you have to take the days off and the opportunities as they come. Having heard so much buzz about the place, I had somewhat high expectations. The menu itself is intriguing. At times the wording is reminiscent of Daniel Stern. "Green sauce." Uh, okay sure! Almost everything sounds good. So, we went with:. Salt and Vinegar Chicharron.

Friday, July 19, 2013. Reading and Eating in Louisville. For the past several years, the AP US History Reading has taken place in Louisville. I wanted to make the most of the all-expenses-paid (not all of this food) trip to Kentucky. I did what I always do on my solo vacations: eat and drink. Thanks to advice from Twitter people, I managed to have three excellent meals in Louisville. The first good meal was at Harvest. My next stop was Eiderdown. Germantown is a neighborhood of shotgun houses and the res...
The Femme Fermental: A Day in Seattle
http://femmefermental.blogspot.com/2014/07/a-day-in-seattle.html
Saturday, July 19, 2014. A Day in Seattle. I visited Seattle briefly a few years ago. Instantly, I fell in love with the mountain-water-cityscape combination. My post-marathon visit to Seattle was also brief. I wanted to see and eat as much as possible. Since my mother hadn't been there before, we had a few touristy items to cross off the list. We went to Pike Place Market, the Seattle Central Public Library, Pioneer Square, Olympic Sculpture Park. And Staple and Fancy Mercantile. Sitka and Spruce is a g...
Spork Nation: August 2006
http://sporknation.blogspot.com/2006_08_01_archive.html
Random thoughts, observations, and the occasional rant from someone with very little sense. Friday, August 25, 2006. Hell in a handbasket. I don’t know if anyone has been listening to the radio much lately, but what the hell has happened to music? The only difference is that one is slightly heavier on bass, one is slightly heavier on twang, and one is slightly heavier on guitar. Also, it used to be that if a song had too many lyrics that couldn’t be broadcast, it wouldn’t be played on the radio. Who ...

Random thoughts, observations, and the occasional rant from someone with very little sense. Monday, February 07, 2011. I'll Miss You, Uncle Tom. My Uncle, Tommy Taylor, passed away unexpectedly last Friday. At the last minute last night, I was asked to eulogize him at the funeral that took place earlier this afternoon. In memory of him, and to ease my mind as well, here is a fairly accurate transcription of my words. I'm gonna miss you, man. Put on wax by JT @ 18:11 2 words of wisdom. Let's see how this ...

Random thoughts, observations, and the occasional rant from someone with very little sense. Wednesday, June 28, 2006. Wellit’s done. My divorce was final as of Monday, June 26th. I’ve received so much incredible support from all of my family and friends. I never expected to be divorced this early in life, but I also never expected a lot of things that have happened. I’m relieved that it is all over. Now if the house will sell, I’ll feel a lot better. Put on wax by JT @ 13:23 0 words of wisdom. In case an...

Random thoughts, observations, and the occasional rant from someone with very little sense. Friday, February 24, 2006. Me his extra ticket. He wouldn’t even let me buy him a beer as thanks. If Kyle was a woman, or if we lived in Canada, I would marry him. I would prefer the situation where Kyle is a woman, though, because I don’t understand the metric system, and I don’t like dudes in that way. Willie then played every song we wanted to hear, with the exception of Red Headed Stranger. My friend Avril is ...
