North Thoresby Links: November 2008
http://norththoresbylinks.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html
Sunday, November 9, 2008. Remembrance at North Thoresby. But this afternoon the congregation was larger than in recent years. There were still a few medals and the wreaths and the bugler. But most of us were far too young to have known anything of world wars beyond the reminiscences of our parents. Undoubtedly we all came for our own disparate reasons. But we came and I guess that indicated a degree of imagination that we haven't been used to. Tuesday, November 4, 2008. Commemoration of the Departed.

Marshchapel Links: December 2008

Friday, 19 December 2008. Very pleasantly surprised at the number of people who came to the carol service last night. Shows what a difference it makes when you enlist the children. It was fascinating to see how unabashed the children were. Frequently they tend to be a bit overawed by old church buildings and especially by performing in them. But last night they not only sang up nice and strongly but they treated the place as their own - which is as it should be. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

North Thoresby Links: Money, always Money!!
http://norththoresbylinks.blogspot.com/2008/10/money-always-money.html
Friday, October 17, 2008. Money, always Money! One thing we didn't plan for was clearing the dyke at the bottom of the churchyard! It's silted up rather badly and as landowners we have to clear it so that flood water can run away. It's not just along the churchyard boundary but the bit along the edge of the field as far as the sewage works as well. We're trying to get it done as cheaply as possible, but at the moment the lowest quote is nearly £5,000! All sent to try us! Money, always Money!

Tuesday, November 4, 2008. Commemoration of the Departed. Remembrance at North Thoresby. Commemoration of the Departed. The North Chapel Parishes. Glad to be done with the turkey? Can't wait to get the decorations down? Understandable, but if Christmas is only one day we miss the point.Whatever Christ. As usual we had a good crowd to celebrate with us - and with the newly installed path things weren't quite as mucky as last year.

Saturday, 25 October 2008. Nice cheery Coffee Morning yesterday - specially nice as I won a cake! It always surprises me that something as simple as getting together over a cuppa and a biscuit brings out so much friendliness. Though, of course, simple as it is, it's a lot of work for the organisers and their helpers. Friday, 10 October 2008. Inaugural Recital on the New Organ. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
