The Canyon is a neat place. When (note I didn't say if) you go, get below the rim. Plan to be in the park long enough to take a day hike at least. It is worth the time. Bob is in great athletic condition. I aspire to be in similar shape. Bob gave us a piece of paper with a map and information about each day's hike on the afternoon before the actual hike. I would have preferred to have this before leaving Champaign. Perhaps he was worried that people wouldn't bring it if he gave it to them earlier. Food t...

This is the first page ( Second Page. Of the itinerary that we were given for the trip. For the most part we were able to stay pretty close to this. Day 1: Champaign, Illinois to Elk City, Oklahoma. Meet at the Outdoor Rec Center at 6:30am. Drive until we get to the Elk City KOA. 8:00pm. Loud noise. Tire blowout. Luckily, the van is a dually, so Bob still had pretty good control. We pulled off to the side of the road. Day 2: Elk City, Oklahoma to Flagstaff, Arizona. Day 4: Grand Canyon National Park.
