Canada has good food, eh. First and foremost, the food, right? Oh the food. So much food. To be specific, so much seafood. Enough to just make your heart burst (with love, of course! For the sake of brevity, I give you our British Columbia Tour of Food in one line reviews. Important to note that we started each dinner with oysters. And they were amazing. Ferris Oyster Bar, Victoria, dinner. Tired, very tired, but yummy Lavender sidecar and yummy steamed mussels and clams. from what I remember. Kind of li...

You can't scare us, polar vortex. Lots of fun was to be had in the snow, wind, and subzero temperatures today - and we weren't about to miss Molly's baby shower! Here we come, Molly! Unfortunately, the weather did prevent several people from attending, but that just meant more delicious Hillary-made food for us to enjoy - and more Molly time to monopolize. Congrats to Molly and Jimmy! Afterward, I took the dogs (separately! Thanks for the walk, mom! They're still ugly, though. Pumpkin oat white chocolate.

Not if I see you first. So about 13 years ago, this happened. Zima for the win. Then in 2005, this happened. A few weeks ago, we were so very lucky to witness this happening. We are very serious about love. And, of course, some of those familiar faces are those I hold dearest in my life still, and it was extra special to spend the weekend with our dear Meg, mine and Brad's date for the weekend festivities. Or should I say Brad's date, as the two of them are peas in a (whiskey-soaked) pod. Pleasant House:...

No pickles, please: Put an egg on it.
http://stepheats.blogspot.com/2013/11/put-egg-on-it.html
Put an egg on it. Thanks to Hillary's farm-fresh connections, I have a beautiful dozen happiest of happy eggs right now. My inspiration tonight was a recent Pinterest find, sweet potato salad with soft-boiled eggs. Are eggs not the most photogenic of foods? Soup I made a few weeks ago. This time I used a whole bottle of Jaw Jacker (swapped w/ some of the veggie broth). What else have we been eating lately? Even Brad liked it! Proof that he ate it. Brad doesn't even like mushrooms! Pizza I'm a fan. Vail, ...

If you drove by our house this week and didn't look closely, you may have thought there was a rabid monkey on the loose in our house. Welcome to our house "renovation.". Luckily, we only have two more days of this part of the process (two down). Then the paint part of the paint job starts - half a week down, only three and a half left to go! Probably should pick our color here pretty soon. I don't think I've ever seen him smile quite so much. Love it. And discovered some more drinks (at RM Champagne).

So, this happened last night. Rachel put the pimento cheese bug in our brains, so it was simply necessary to make some pimento mac and cheese. And then also have it for lunch today. I originally planned to jazz it up, add some spinach or something, but Brad rightly steered me toward the ole classic way. And then this happened. Homemade "ice cream" from a recent Pinterest inspiration. Also inspiring? Anyway, this is just frozen bananas (note to self: PEEL the bananas before you freeze them! Quick dry pain...

Happy St. Patrick's Day, folks! To celebrate, Hillary invited some of us over for a Irish potluck, and, as expected, it was delicious and fun. I even had my first Guinness (on its own) and my second ever Irish Car Bomb - I made Brad and me mini ones to kick off the celebration. Anyway, my point being, who knew Guinness was so delicious? It is officially my new favorite. Also my favorite are these peeps, who I hope to spend many more St. Patrick's Days with! Brad gives St. Patrick's Day a big thumbs up.

Three days of singlehood down, one more night left to go. And night two of delicious non-Brad food was a grand success - and I think Brad will even like tonight's dinner when I make him eat it for dinner tomorrow. ;). I worked up an appetite this afternoon on my first outside run in nearly two weeks. It was somewhat of a heat wave (25 degrees! Running in smooshy, packed snow is like running through the sand, though. I was pooped. And ready for some hot soup. So glad I gave kale another try. Oh yes, yes y...

Seriously. Holy freakin soup. I've made soups over the years, but they almost never turn out quite like they should - almost always too thin, or two chunky, or just not perfect. I think I've made THE soup. (And thanks for the soupy inspiration, Rachel! I did some googling earlier and found this soup. Lotsa onions, lotsa apples. Especially when I swapped out a cup of the broth (veggie! Brief interlude to say. the five-speed KitchenAid immersion blender. Anyway, holy soup! Go make it, fool! A is for apple.
