farm wildlife

http://grangehousefarm.co.uk/wildlife.html

Grange House has a wide variety of wildlife especially birds within a landscape of wooded areas, ponds and hedgerows. The use of spring sown crops after over wintered stubble encourages ground nesting birds such as Lapwings and Skylarks. Other birds seen on the farm include: Heron, Kingfisher, Coot, Mallard, Barn Owl, Tawny Owl, Little Owl, Sparrowhawk, Treecreeper, Swifts, Swallows and House Martins. The Defra funded ELS scheme is used to encourage wildlife on the farm.

An old pond with new fish. Chaloner Pond was restored in 2001 having been in existence for many years, it is over an acre in size, with a maximum depth of around 2.5 metres. The pond is attractively landscaped and the area is also ideal for seeing wildlife, especially birds! The pond contains five main species of fish: Perch, Roach, Tench, Carp and Crucian Carp with 50Ib hauls possible. Fishing is by day ticket, at 5.00 per day, or in the summer months 3.00 after 5pm.

around the farm

http://grangehousefarm.co.uk/aroundthefarm.html

The farm was traditionally a mixed farm but is now mainly arable with a small sheep flock. There has been diversification into coarse fishing, the provision of a horse track, crops for energy and government funded environmental schemes are in place. Finally, there is a caravan park, which provides secure storage in an outdoor compound. Please contact Phil Lazenby. With any enquiries or fishing reports. Please click this link to view a map of the farm.

poplar pond

http://grangehousefarm.co.uk/poplar.html

A lovely pond with lots of fish. The pond was dug out in the nineteenth century to provide clay for the bricks that were used to build Grange House. Over the years the pond silted up until 2002 when it was excavated and landscaped for fishing. The pond contains a variety of fish including Perch, Roach and a large head of small Carp. Fishing is by day ticket, at 5.00 per day, or in the summer months 3.00 after 5pm.
