Saturday, December 01, 2012. We love the Sun. Every Sunday we set up a tent at a local Market that has everything. Stella is standing in front of our off-grid laundry demo. Tommy talking solar story. We've converted two used electric golf cars into solar powered golf cars. I get an extra resistance work-out when Stella helps me do the laundry. Stella is the only one who dares to pick up a duck. She is holding Meg. I bought some Hawaiian themed fabric for the golf car seats. One of our pineapple patches.

Sunday, August 05, 2012. Last Saturday we went up to Volcanoes National Park with some friends and we hiked the 4.3mile Kilauea Iki Trail. Stella did surprisingly well on this moderate to difficult trail. We had a lot of fun, made plenty of stops, had lunch on top of the 1959 lava lake, and marveled at the power of Pele. See the faint white trail in the picture below? The little white dots on the trail below are people. Fearless Stella running down the trail in her slippahs! The restaurant near "Manta Po...

Monday, May 20, 2013. Getting in the Groove Again. Yes, it's been a long time between posts. Since moving to Hawaii we have had extremely limited internet capabilities. Now we have new service and it is unlimited and about 10 times faster. No longer do I have to wait 10 hours to upload pictures :). Early in April I made Stella a crown for her then upcoming 4th birthday. She loves to wear crowns and dresses, but she also loves to skateboard and ride her pedal-free bike. A peek into our forest.home to ...

Sunday, August 25, 2013. As promised.Stella's first day of "school". She loves it when we set up the bed into the couch and tables and then get out her "learning tools". She was all set to go with her abacus and tea:) We actually have a lot of fun and spend a couple hours each day learning new material and review previous material. It's fun to watch her grasp math concepts, learn phonics, and creatively draw. There was a rainbow around the full moon the other night. She loves to be goofy! Follow Tom on T...

Thursday, March 14, 2013. New Couch and Tables and Futon. We were really missing having a couch. We have been pricing futons and futon couches.ouch very expensive! About a grand just to have some comfort, so I went to the library. I found this book " How To Make 2x4 Furniture for Indoors". It had an awesome (IMHO) design for a couch with two tables that could convert to a queen size bed. It even had directions for making your own futon! I *cheated* and did not attempt to sew the futon cover. Cool Big Isl...

Wednesday, June 06, 2012. Venus and the Sun. We had the idea a couple of weeks ago.we would rent a cabin at Hapuna Beach State Park on July 5th to watch the planet Venus move between the earth and the sun. I was amazed to find one cabin left, so I quickly made our reservation and we had our first fun trip of the summer booked! This is Hapuna Beach.it's about 90 miles from our house, on the other side of the island. The lone boy in the ocean is Kyle. We found one of the boy's friends from school! Looking ...

Saturday, July 28, 2012. Vacation on the Other Side. There were a lot of fairly tame turkeys at the condo! Forgive the sunny shot.we were on a boat, heading to Kealakekua Bay for some snorkeling. The white monument is the Captain Cook Monument. This is where Captain Cook was killed when it was realized he wasn't a god and wasn't so great after all. The bay is a marine sanctuary. The water was crystal clear and deep and we saw lots of fish and coral. Stella and Kyle asleep on the boat ride home.
