Sunday, May 31, 2015. Sunday Dessert - Lazy Day Cake. Today is a lazy day here at Graves Gap Knitting. For dessert today, I made what I call a Lazy Day Cake. Here's the recipe:. 1 box cake mix (I like Duncan Hines) made by the directions on the box except that I used a trick my Mother taught me - use milk instead of water. Trust me, it makes a difference. And I baked it in a 9x13 pan. Easy peasy. The icing is the recipe on the Domino's Confectioner's Sugar box:. 1 box confectioner's sugar. The blackberri...

Graves Gap Knitting: April 2014

http://www.gravesgapknitting.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html

Wednesday, April 23, 2014. This past Sunday was Homecoming at Calvary Baptist, the church I grew up in as did my Mother before me. My Mother and her parents were charter members so my roots are deep. It is the church where I first learned about Jesus, went to Vacation Bible School, and learned about missions. Homecoming is a day set aside, usually in the spring or fall, where families and past members come back to their home church for a special church service and a covered dish lunch. Some are still at ...

Graves Gap Knitting: May 2013

Tuesday, May 14, 2013. Links to this post. Monday, May 13, 2013. The Never Ending Blanket. Remember the Mitered Crosses Blanket. I've been working on since back last summer? Well, I'm still motoring right along the highway of garter stitch. Right now, I have big stack (22 squares worth) of Noro goodness. I keep thinking that this thing is taking FOREVER and then I remember that it's my own fault. You may recall that the original pattern. I am happy to report that I am on square 23 and I can see the light!

Graves Gap Knitting: The Stash

http://www.gravesgapknitting.blogspot.com/2014/01/the-stash.html

Monday, January 20, 2014. The stash. Every knitter has one. It starts out innocently enough but then grows. And grows. It's all those leftover balls of yarn from projects, and yarn that you bought for something in particular but then you either don't get around to knitting it or the yarn just doesn't work out for the pattern. And it's that yarn that was on sale and well, you could use it for. And then there are the pretties that just jump in your basket at the yarn shop. What was I thinking? I consulted ...

Graves Gap Knitting: January 2013

http://www.gravesgapknitting.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html

Thursday, January 10, 2013. Happy New Year Everyone! One of my goals for the New Year is to blog more. Somehow I’m rather surprised that I haven’t blogged since the end of October because I blog a lot in my head. But unfortunately, blogging in my head doesn’t count, does it? I’ve been knitting a lot or it seems that way anyway. I made six pairs of fingerless gloves as Christmas presents. Here’s a photo. These were all knit from Rowan Felted Tweed. The Ferryboat Mitts are knit in Cascade 220. They’r...

tamknots : It's Cashmere!

http://www.tamknots.com/2015/06/its-cashmere.html

Wednesday, June 10, 2015. Seriously, we went to the dealership on Saturday airquotes. I knew later this summer I would be shopping for a new vehicle, but I wanted to wait until the 2016's came out. If I was going to suffer the pain of the expense of a new vehicle, then it was going to be the newest of the new! And I was pretty sure to make it easy, I was just going to get an updated model of my current vehicle. I could not go through the car wash because in that situation the sun roof leaked. A lot!

tamknots : June 2015

http://www.tamknots.com/2015_06_01_archive.html

Friday, June 26, 2015. Summer pleasures (with no guilt). Summer has definitely hit North Carolina! We're suffering through record-breaking highs, the heat has been brutal, and it is so dry. We desperately need rain. However, we've had other summers similar to this, and the rain will come. Look how brown our grass is! Steve loves his yard, but it would be impossible to keep the lawn watered enough to stay green. Sunday morning, June 21. Streaming Netflix (just started watching Parks and Recreation. Dining...

In St Paul, Minnesota. If you're not on their email list, I'd highly recommend it for the knitting inspiration. As soon as I saw their version of the ZickZack Scarf. I began the search through Ravelry projects to decide what color schemes I wanted to use. With shades of lavender. I can't wait to get started! Which i...

Thursday, February 26, 2015. A Rare Snow Day. We received about 3" of beautiful wet heavy snow overnight. It was not enough to cause any problems getting into work, but K-12 schools were closed. Please enjoy these scenic photos from one of my favorite places. Location: North Carolina, USA. Wednesday, February 25, 2015. Photo taken on Feb 17 by my DH*. http://www.tamknots.com/2015/08/only-attention-and-fanfare.html

Sunday, August 16, 2015. Only attention and fanfare. First 2" of zick zack scarf. It's been such a great week at home! But I also spent many hours on my back deck and in the kitchen doing my favorite things, like knitting, cooking, and reading. Tomorrow I return to work, bright and early. It will be okay; the students start returning this week, and I love the energy that returns to campus along with them. And a paycheck is a very good thing! My son Ben also treated me to lunch, and he invited THE MAYOR!

Wednesday, July 8, 2015. It was a wonderful long weekend, starting with a family birthday. Celebration for our son (#28). Saturday morning we went to our town's Fourth. Celebration that was mostly kid activities, a bike parade, etc., and a lot of fun. Now my attention is turned to the anticipation. When Steve and I plan to head to the beach for a vacation. I do like to anticipate packing for what I'll enjoy while away:. What I'll read . . . What I'll knit . . . My daughter replenished my stash with five ...
