Grayliners

Exploring America one back road at a time. In olden days of gas-station maps, country roads were printed in gray. Today, these roads often get dropped from congested maps, but modern GPS receivers and navigational devices allow us to pursue our interest in such places. Along the way, we often geocache and take photos (and drink coffee, if we can find a nice coffee shop).

A Country Parson: July 2009

http://wisconsincountryparson.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html

What is the Kingdom of God? 160;Friday, July 31, 2009. Dotti and I had planned our two weeks of vacation in northwestern lower Michigan, a return trip to an area we had visited two years earlier, and left early on Monday morning of the first week. We arrived safely, and soon began our exploration. Fairly early that first week, Dotti spotted a sign along a roadside that read: “ Historic Greensky Hill Native American United Methodist Church. 8221; with an arrow pointing north. Then came the announcements: ...

A Country Parson: Fireworks for Pacifists

http://wisconsincountryparson.blogspot.com/2009/07/fireworks-for-pacifists.html

160;Wednesday, July 1, 2009. On my second blog, Grayliners. I've posted an essay and video under this title, and I invite you there to read and see. (The post is too large to post it to both blogs.). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). These are the musings of a country parson, and the things I am learning from my family and friends, my parishioners, and my community and world. They are my musings alone, for which I take sole responsibility. Please feel free to interact with what you see posted here.

Our daughter Deb is ever improving on her 105-year-old house, moving walls, updating doors and windows, and whatever. She and I have some good times destructing/constructing. I promised her some time this weekend. Here's part of the beautiful drive between my home in Janesville and her home in Watertown. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). January 5, 2010.

It's cold and a bit dreary today, which means it's a good day for homemade soup. And good homemade soup demands homemade bread bowls. While working with Deb this afternoon, we noticed tracks in the snow crossing her first floor roof. The animal that had created these tracks ran down the kitchen and sun room roof and jumped to the carport roof. It sure looked to me like a reindeer. Photo will follow as son as I remember how to get it off my cell phone. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

While the family was here, it was put back into ts box in sections. Finally, last night we finished this bizarre jigsaw puzzle. This morning, before we disassembled it and put it back into its box, I opted to photograph it, proving that we indeed completed it. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
