Great Days Out with Grandma. Monday, 23 August 2010. Very little of the original Priory remains. Legend has it that in 1061, Richeldis de Faverches, the lady of the manor, had visions of the Virgin Mary . Richeldis built a Holy House at Walsingham which became a place of pilgrimage. A priory was founded at the site in 1153, which was almost totally destroyed at the Dissolution of the Monasteries in 1538. Very little now remains of this priory. The Garden at England's Nazareth.
