Snapshots of our lives here in Shanghai. Monday, 23 April 2012. The leaves are back! Springtime in Shanghai and street life has taken off. Cabbages have been replaced. Lanterns have been replaced. When we returned from England Spring had definitely arrived. The temperature had risen to hover around 20 degrees instead of 3. Gradually there has been a change in the air. Strolling has replaced striding. Parasols have replaced umbrellas. Courtyard cafes have replaced interiors. The view from our gateway.

It's an ancient city, famous for its gardens, its canals and its silk embroidery. We did try to get in to a dumpling restaurant but it had a waiting list so we ended up having a hamburger. Very tasty but hardly very Chinese! The patty itself is quite tasty, but paired with the aioli it is full of flavour! 2 cups lentils (cooked or canned). 1/2 cup walnuts chopped. 1 small onion, chopped. 2 cloves garlic, minced. 1 tbsp curry powder. 1 1/2 cup breadcrumbs. 1/2 cup oats (rolled or steel cut). 1/2 tbsp curry powder. Aioli is 1 wwpp per tsp.
