Green Convulusions

Friday, May 16, 2008. If nothing else, we need to improve our website! I found Podcastalley.com a useful site. When I searched children's book talks there were many many podcasts to choose from. I included "children's book radio" and "book bites for kids" to my Google Reader. In contrast I found Yahoo! Utterly useless. When I typed in children's book talks I got a bunch of random nothing. I suppose if I spent more time playing with the search I may be more successful, but I didn't and I won't. Greetings ...

http://www.greenconvulusions.blogspot.com/2008/05/dabbling-with-googledocs-greetings.html

Tuesday, May 6, 2008. Greetings fellow travelers. I am writing this from Google Docs. It seems to be a basic but sufficient word processing service. Let's see how it translates onto the blog.I like the idea of not having to worry about compatibility with different software programs and the idea that no matter where I am, I have the ability to access documents I am currently working on. Green Convulusions: Week Eight (part two)

http://www.greenconvulusions.blogspot.com/2008/04/week-eight-part-two.html

Tuesday, April 8, 2008. Week Eight (part two). I researched “fruit fly migration” on Exalead, Clusty, Mooter, Kartoo, and Yahoo. I was surprised by the results. Although the graphics were attractive, Kartoo’s web diagram pulled very few relevant results. However, it did include an intriguing site I will have to investigate further – brightsurf.com (a resource for science information). Overall, I found the presentation and results confusing and convoluted. From this one search there was overlap in the res...

Tuesday, April 8, 2008. Where is the cat? Can you see it? Week Eight (part two). I researched “fruit fly migration” on Exalead, Clusty, Mooter, Kartoo, and Yahoo. I was surprised by the results. I liked Clusty and Exalead the best of all search engines investigated. Both went directly from the search to a results list, which included a sidebar with related terms. Exalead included formats, languages and file types in the sidebar. I also liked that Exalead included a preview image of the file i...From this...

Green Convulusions: March 2008

http://www.greenconvulusions.blogspot.com/2008_03_01_archive.html

Thursday, March 20, 2008. Week Seven (part two). Okay, I messed around with the image generators. I suppose it is fun, and you could definitely be sucked into the vortex with very little effort. However, I can't believe we are being encouraged to use work time to in essence waste time with these applications. I honestly see no relevance to libraries or library work. Thursday, March 6, 2008. Library 2.0 Endeavors: Final Countdown

http://elizabeththebibliophile.blogspot.com/2008/05/final-countdown.html

Library 2.0 Endeavors. Wednesday, May 14, 2008. Dabbling with different search engines was interesting, but reconfirmed my preference for Google. I'm starting to appreciate podcasts more and will continue to listen to the ones I found. I really like the "incentives" - Thanks! All in all, this was am invigorating program and I'm kind of sad that it's ending! But, now I have these newly learned tools at my fingertips, so I can use them at my leisure! CLICK HERE FOR THOUSANDS OF FREE BLOGGER TEMPLATES. Wednesday, May 7, 2008. This week's assignment was to learn about podcasts. At first I had trouble differentiating between podcasts and online videos such as those offered on YouTube, but after some exploration I think I'm beginning to understand the difference. I explored both "Podcastalley" and "Search Yahoo! Just for kicks I searched for the same podcast on Search Yahoo! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

Post by thanking all of you who have taken the time to check out my blog. Your comments and feedback have been appreciated! Lots of great book suggestions! I think the library could really benefit from adding podcasts/online video to their website. Imagine how cool it would be if we could film our storytimes and book babies and then post them online! Library 2.0 Endeavors. Friday, April 11, 2008. YouTube, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways. I really like YouTube for many reasons. I like how you can find rare movie clips. I like how you can listen to songs and watch music videos. I also like some of the amateur stuff, like fan videos. I included a fan video my brother and his friends made - it's pretty funny. CLICK HERE FOR THOUSANDS OF FREE BLOGGER TEMPLATES. Thursday, May 1, 2008. YouTube: Why the Internet Was Created! Thank you, Al Gore! Thank you. If it hadn't been for your "inventing" the Internet we never could've enjoyed the amazingly fun and addictive video sharing site that is YouTube. Oh, and thanks to YouTube I found my new favorite T.V. show, "The Office." If you haven't had a chance to see it you should definitely check it out. Very funny stuff! http://elizabeththebibliophile.blogspot.com/2008/04/how-many-lives-has-been-lost-on-cutting.html

Library 2.0 Endeavors. Thursday, April 24, 2008. How many lives has been lost on the cutting edge of Discovery? Ok, so I have already spent some valuable time playing with some different programs featured on Google Labs. I already have previously used some of the "graduated" features on the right and have been pleased with the results. It's interesting that Google is constantly creating new and interesting features - I guess it's important to keep on their toes on technology. Posted by Elizabeth Wyatt.

CLICK HERE FOR THOUSANDS OF FREE BLOGGER TEMPLATES. Thursday, April 24, 2008. Well, the good folks over at Google never cease to amaze me. I just got through browsing some of their latest "creations" over at the labs, and it's pretty cool to see what they're coming up with. Here's a quick review of a few of the features I explored:. Oh well, nobody's perfect. How do the folks at Google decide which "hot trends" to post anyway? Google Extensions for Firefox:. It looks like Google has some pretty neat stuf...
