Capitol to Capital: Eating at the Track
http://ieatdc.blogspot.com/2012/07/eating-at-track.html
Eating at the Track. It happened. The track opened! So, eating at the track. Has a lot of choices, but I'm still getting started. See above - HATTIE'S. While brunch there recently was a bit of a miss (chicken was a little off, eggs weren't cooked right the first time), you really can't go wrong with fried chicken. They had some initial drama. Page and beyond about their new location, made a few threats not to be at the Track, but alas are still there. And BTW it was very easy to find. Go, have fun, eat f...

Capitol to Capital: 05.12
http://ieatdc.blogspot.com/2012_05_01_archive.html
My Favorite v. The Best v. I Like It. What makes something The Best? Is it the best because it's been compared to others and really is, in the end, The Best? Or is it the best because it's your favorite? Or is it the best because you really like it, and everything else is just meh. In the mood for soup dumplings. Or maybe you are. Take it over to my birthday, where we enjoyed the tasting menu at the Wine Bar on Lark. So Is the Wine Bar my favorite. Is it the best. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Things That ...

Capitol to Capital: Cooperstown: Fly Creek and Ommegang
http://ieatdc.blogspot.com/2011/10/cooperstown-fly-creek-and-ommegang.html
Cooperstown: Fly Creek and Ommegang. A while ago, Seester and I ran the Boilermaker. Yes, I've already booked our hotel for next year. The people of Utica are amazing, and you can read about that on running blogs. Now, a member of my husband's family does not complete their first visit to Albany without a day trip to Cooperstown, and Utica is near enough that we combined these situations. Our first stop was Fly Creek Cider Mill and Orchard. Cheese. Lots of cheese. Next it was back to Ommegang. Ommegang h...

Capitol to Capital: Central
http://ieatdc.blogspot.com/2009/03/central.html
Central with our sophisticated NY guest. We've only had good experiences. There, and this dinner was no exception. What DIDN'T we eat? We had fried chicken, fish and chips, lamb, a side of mac and cheese, and who knows what else. Everything was delish (at least everything I tasted). The mac and cheese is SO good but very rich, so please share- maybe with several people. Excellent service, excellent food, a touch of fanciness, and all without [completely] breaking the bank. You really can't go wrong.

Capitol to Capital: Miss Albany Diner
http://ieatdc.blogspot.com/2011/03/miss-albany-diner.html
This little diner is TFC. The food is good, the service is friendly, and there are interesting things on the walls. Downstaters/DCers, please take the above as a lesson in NY geography. I live nowhere near Buffalo. It's 5 hours away according to this very official signage. Hawaii seems too close. And the food. So here at the MAD they toast your cinnamon bun. Even though I usually wouldn't order one of these delectable definitely-not-breakfast (DESSERT) items, I was intrigued by the toasting. I made some ...

Capitol to Capital: Symeon's
http://ieatdc.blogspot.com/2012/07/symeons.html
When you live in the Capital Region and run the Boilermaker. You have two options: Stay over in the Utica area (and book well in advance- at least 6 months), or get up at an ungodly hour and head west for the 8am start. In both 2011 and 2012 I chose to stay the night nearby. ANYWAY, we had dinner at Symeon's. Really enjoyed her salmon with grilled vegetables and rice pilaf. Light and healthy, getting ready to run. 3 mini sundaes for the price of one. Thank you! July 23, 2012 at 9:22 AM. We lived, ate, an...

Capitol to Capital: Dinosaur Bar-B-Que
http://ieatdc.blogspot.com/2011/01/dinosaur-bar-b-que.html
Thanks for having a song where you spell DINOSAUR. I always want to write dinasaur or dinasour. And when I get confused, I think of your song, and spell it out for myself. I was insane and food-obsessed, but I'm still laying on the downlow here. If you're having déjà vu, yes, I did have a big plate of barbecued meat. Barely a year ago at the Salt Lick in Austin, Texas. Meat, chicken can seem meh. This chicken was definitely not. But I have it on good authority from a frequent 'Cuse visitor that it's goin...

Capitol to Capital: Cafe Saint-Ex
http://ieatdc.blogspot.com/2007/07/cafe-saint-ex.html
On a recent dinning outing with a friend (who had recommended the Grand Prismatic Spring, pictured above- just in case you were wondering the connection), we had trouble choosing between the hip Café Saint-Ex and Love Café, both of which we had yet to try. Café Saint-Ex was closer to where we began our walk, and we were hungry—that’s how we chose. It was about $30 per person including tip, we had what I said, and only one beer each. A little steep for us considering it was Tuesday…which explain...Metro: ...

Capitol to Capital: One at Revel in Atlantic City
http://ieatdc.blogspot.com/2012/07/one-at-revel-in-atlantic-city.html
One at Revel in Atlantic City. Regardless of my thoughts on Revel (extensive metal staircase to climb to the one-level-misrepresented-as-4-level club in a brandynew resort which btw $30 cover even for a bachelorette party staying there? Letting someone put their pool bar tab on our room? And yes, we had made a second rez. My first choice in the hotel would have been Central. Because helloooo Michel Richard. Or the tapas place. So, I'm not entirely. Sure that it must. YUM, tuna tartare with stacked taro c...
