Winter Walk- examples of how careful choice of plants can bring color to the garden even in winter

Early one morning I saw this most unusual heavy frost on all the garden plants. It almost seemed as if they were glowing, and I felt it was an opportunity to capture, in photos, the ‘bone structure’ of the gardens. Some of these large planters are almost a 'garden' in themselves, and are changed out each season- early spring, summer, autumn and even winter when they can be filled with boughs and berries and other interesting items. Scroll down to see the slideshow. Many of the plants are perennials and the evergreens are often dwarf varieties that stay neat and require only a little maintenance. The pathways are filled on either side with a combination of evergreen plantings, interspersed with perennials and annuals.
