Walking Upside Down: December 2014

http://greengecko29.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html

Wednesday, December 31, 2014. Blog12daysxmas Dec 31 - Reading this year. Keeping track of my reading is so much easier with Goodreads. This year I read 43 books. Actually I read more than that but there were a few I didn't record via Goodreads for various reasons. Nonetheless, here is the list of books I read this year below. Stand out books for me according to my rating at the time were:. Cutting for stone / Abraham Verghese. The kashmir shawl / Rosie Thomas. Links to this post. Links to this post.

Walking Upside Down: December 2013

http://greengecko29.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html

Tuesday, December 31, 2013. According to Goodreads I have read 60 books this year - the same as last year. I think it is fairly accurate as I have been trying to keep the records up to date. Of note, I started reading the Game of Thrones. Series and have just the most recent one to go before I'll join the waiting crowd for George R.R. Martin to write the remaining story! I have also discovered the Phyrne Fisher murder mysteries which I have been enjoying too. I'm in the midst of finishing up The Luminarie.

Walking Upside Down: December 2012

http://greengecko29.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html

Monday, December 31, 2012. I have no desire to see the new year in - I hope to be asleep! So just a quick post. A lovely breezy day so we mowed the lawn which was starting to get complacent and uppity. We soon fixed that attitude. Laundry was done and soon dried in the breeze. Much folding of same also achieved. We spent the evening at my mum and dad's place for a kind of Christmas/ birthday/ New Year / farewell to visitors dinner. My sekkrit Santa got me an ice cream maker! I have always wanted one!

Walking Upside Down: Future of Libraries Summit #fol15

http://greengecko29.blogspot.com/2015/08/future-of-libraries-summit-fol15.html

Monday, August 03, 2015. Future of Libraries Summit #fol15. Friday July 31 was spent in Wellington for the Future of Libraries summit. There are several blogs already about this event and a Storify is embedded below (thanks to @sarahlibrarina). I was excited to attend the event, enjoyed the day and came away invigorated and a bit frustrated too. It was a beginning though and I look forward to seeing some consolidated actions come from it. In my opinion the two main key drivers are access. I think the lib...

RNIB and Vision Australia libraries on YouTube (8 June). Posted by Sally Cummings on Friday, June 8, 2012 Under: Professional. I regularly monitor Twitter and other channels for news and developments related to accessibility in libraries and the broader community. I recently came across this YouTube video from the RNIB (Royal National Institute of Blind People). And closed captioning would have been a plus as well. 2012 is the National Year of Reading. The unusual experience of having a photo featured on Flickr Explore (29 June). Posted by Sally Cummings on Monday, June 29, 2015 Under: Technology. So an odd thing happened yesterday. One of my index cards was featured in Flickr Explore. And it was a very interesting experience . But the likes just kept on coming! And new followers too. So I booted up my PC, and had another look at Flickr Explore, and sure enough - there it was. Very exciting :). So That was pretty cool. With over 13,000 views (but only ...

Posted by Sally Cummings on Monday, October 18, 2010 Under: Technology. First there was #blogeverydayofjune. Then there was #1pic1thoughtinAug. Now it's time for #Octshowntell. Octshowntell is a challenge to explore a variety of digital storytelling tools - one each week in October - and share the results on Twitter, using the #Octshowntell hashtag. As well as being great fun, it's a terrific idea to get to know these tools, and to consider how they can be used in both personal and professional contexts.

http://www.sallysetsforth.com/index/blabberize-3-june-

Posted by Sally Cummings on Sunday, June 3, 2012 Under: Technology. Last year my colleagues and I put together a fun library orientation program for students that involved treasure hunts, QR codes, animated videos and more. It was a great project to work on, and I've previously blogged about it HERE. As part of the online version of the treasure hunt, we used video clips that I created with an online tool called Blabberize. Here's one of the videos that we used in the treasure hunt:. Feral Librarian Tales: School days, they pass so quickly...

http://ferallibrarytales.blogspot.com/2012/01/school-days-they-pass-so-quickly.html

Having reverted to the wild state, as from domestication.". Tuesday, January 31, 2012. School days, they pass so quickly. I remember waving my first child off to school for the first time and having a small weep on the way home in the car. I remember being apprehensive about how the day would go, how he would feel, be accepted and if he would accept readily the new group rules and dynamic. So my advice is buy lots of stationery, get them a new back pack every year, but let them choose it, help with the h...

I am very much afraid that you may be very disappointed with me as I am such a sad correspondent, my apologies for the tardiness of this update on our activities. Scrapbooking projects and more! I have an 8 month old…. September 23, 2009. And boy do we all know about it right now! He is so frustrated trying to move but not quite getting there yet. He seems to be able to shuffle himself around in a circle on his bottom but we have no real forward movement yet. Cam is also loving standing and bouncing in your arms while flapping his wings as if that will help him take off! I am not ready for that! Who gets anywhere with 3 kids by 8.30?
