Little Home In The Country: It's Brown Season
http://littlehomeinthecountry.blogspot.com/2015/04/its-brown-season.html
Little Home In The Country. Saturday, 11 April 2015. Urgh, after a lovely holiday on the west coast where the grass is green and the flowers are blooming, we returned home to see the usual early Spring display of (depressing) brown. The vacation was great! I especially enjoyed haunting a few (very quaint) used book stores in Sidney and bought a beekeeping book for me and a book gift for a friend (I shall not divulge more in case my friend is reading here) XO. Little Home In The Country. Such a beautiful ...

I like to write about simple healthy living. This blog has evolved over a few years and includes some time living in the country and enjoying raising chickens, walking dogs and growing our own veggies. We are back in the city for a while to build the bank account so that we can retire back in the country in the not too distant future. Till then it's two days at a time. Monday, 30 January 2012. These are some pictures of my work environment it's very beautiful and very peaceful. Outside the office block.

Writer Pianist Dreamer Artist. Sunday, 24 July 2011. Today is my day off for the week. And of course, since that means I can sleep in, I woke up every half hour from 3 am onwards. At five I gave up and walked outside for a little bit. The grass was wet, and the hay field was only making the slightest whispering sounds. Since the grass is so tall there, my feet didn't feel like I was walking on needles while threading my way along the edge of the field. I have never been a morning person. I'm a night ...

Writer Pianist Dreamer Artist. Monday, 26 December 2011. When I work graveyard shifts, sometimes the telly is the only thing that keeps me awake through the long slow hours. And I watch some pretty odd stuff, since late night programming is rather deplorable when it comes to quality. Lately, midnight shifts are all I've worked, and due to Christmas, the shows are even more spotty than usual. Do I believe the world will end on that day? Being from rural Alaska, black-outs don't scare me. I'm so used t...

Writer Pianist Dreamer Artist. Friday, 6 July 2012. It's been a while, and I've had a great deal of time to muse over the future of my blog. Writer Pianist Dreamer Artist. Tuesday, 31 May 2011. As a young child, I heard this song. I've heard it again and again over the years. It's the song of happy memories, multiple cafe concerts, and two of my favourite musicians have promised to play it at my wedding (should I get married) for my first waltz. Not that I ever had an Uncle Walter. But still, if I had, I think I wouldn't mind it if he went waltzing with bears. Links to this post. Monday, 23 May 2011. See The Girl Dance. Dance, dance,. Simple, Green, Frugal Co-op: April 2015

Tuesday, 28 April 2015. Making the most of seasonal produce. Our pumpkin vines were very happy after a wet January. To make the most of seasonal produce I do a range of different things, which I will talk about in a series of posts. Buyers and sellers at Canberra farmer's market. As I wander around the market I look to see what is new – are those the first quinces for the year? Is the asparagus man back? First kiwi fruit for the year. Links to this post. Wednesday, 22 April 2015. Well, here is an idea!

Greening the Rose – Living green, living well frugally, wasting less
Living green, living well frugally, wasting less. January 11, 2017. It is with great sadness that I have to inform you that Rose passed away at 2am January 10th 2017. She had been fighting advanced breast cancer that had spread to her bones and lungs. The last few weeks were spent in great pain. Her palliative care team put her into a semi-coma some days ago to block out the pain She died peacefully with me at her side. Please remember her fondly and continue to be inspired by her words. June 14, 2016.
