Green Parenting Project: How we've cut down on Monthly Bills...
http://greenparentingproject.blogspot.com/2010/06/how-weve-cut-down-on-monthly-bills.html
Being poor made us go green. Wednesday, June 2, 2010. How we've cut down on Monthly Bills. I'm wondering if any one has any other tips on monthly bill slashing. Here's what we've done so far. Down $30 YES THIRTY DOLLARS a month. Squiggly light bulbs instead of round ones. Turned off the lights! Really, it works. Swap light switches for lights that you can't see for the ones that light up when they're on. Internet: $20 a month. O Berkshires, O Berkshires, Why must you be so wretchedly cold? So, the window...

http://greenparentingproject.blogspot.com/2011/12/sahm-yay.html
Being poor made us go green. Thursday, December 29, 2011. No posts all semester! Being pregnant, having a toddler and 16 science credits left little time for blogging. That being said, now begins the time of LEAVE OF ABSENCE! That's right, no school for a year! Thus the SAHM (Stay At Home Mom! Time to raise some babies and stretch some pennies. For now. naptime is over and off we go on errands and in search of fun on a cold winter day. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.
Green Parenting Project: Peasant Food... part 1
http://greenparentingproject.blogspot.com/2010/06/peasant-food-part-1.html
Being poor made us go green. Monday, June 21, 2010. Peasant Food. part 1. Sometimes when I'm feeling low and can't sleep. I dream a different dream. I make menus. Luscious, luxurious menus. I crack a bottle or two of a '97 vi ntage. And make food. I argue with myself about fois gras versus seared just past bloody duck breast salad. With baby arugula, wilted or not? Do I really like blood oranges or just that they're deep red? Camembert or chevre. lamb chops, curry, mint or rosemary.
Green Parenting Project: Ranch Dressing
http://greenparentingproject.blogspot.com/2012/05/ranch-dressing.html
Being poor made us go green. Thursday, May 3, 2012. Ubiquitous. Delicious. Addictive. Ranch dressing. I'll never forget the first time I tried it. My cousin in Florida was dipping imitation crab sticks into the creamy white salad dressing. It was sooo delicious. So ranch dressing is FULL of weird and terrible things and comes in a plastic container. Unless you make it yourself. It's cheaper too. Around $0.11 oz of homemade vs. $0.19/oz of Hidden Valley. Those WW folks actually gave me credit for this one!

Katie Rose Writes: Homemade Texas Roadhouse Cinnamon Honey Butter
http://katierosewrites.blogspot.com/2011/11/homemade-texas-roadhouse-cinnamon-honey.html
Tuesday, November 29, 2011. Homemade Texas Roadhouse Cinnamon Honey Butter. In my very first post I mentioned that I had recently acquired a whole lot of free time. Unfortunately, The free time is courtesy of my company closing down the lab where I was working. Business-wise, I completely understand their decision. Personal life-wise, it stinks. Big time. I've become obsessed with this fantastic website Pinterest. 2 sticks salted butter, room temperature. 1 cup powdered sugar. View my complete profile.
Katie Rose Writes: More DIY presents
http://katierosewrites.blogspot.com/2011/12/more-diy-presents.html
Sunday, December 18, 2011. I can't believe Christmas is almost here. Where did December go? Thank God I've been on my game with gifts this year (which is most definitely not like me). I just finished another one of my more labor-intensive gifts and I'm actually pretty excited about it! I saw this crafting blog. On Pinterest and immediately loved it. This particular post shows how to make coasters from basic ceramic tiles, fun scrapbooking paper, and modpodge. What a great idea! Here's what you'll need:.
Katie Rose Writes: What? A race?
http://katierosewrites.blogspot.com/2011/11/what-race.html
Thursday, November 10, 2011. Watching George run the half marathon reminded me what I was missing. I may have my moments where I hate running, but I. Racing. The crowd, the adrenaline, pushing myself to beat my previous times- its just such a great experience. So I looked through my 5K training program, guessed where I was, and went for a run! So now I'm on track to run the Santa Claus Shuffle. Go ahead and laugh, but all the runners will be dressed as Santa. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
Katie Rose Writes: Race recap, and then some
http://katierosewrites.blogspot.com/2011/12/race-recap-and-then-some.html
Sunday, December 11, 2011. Race recap, and then some. When I decided my "comeback" race was going to be the Santa Claus Shuffle? Well it was great! We had a lot of fun, and felt ridiculous wearing those silly Santa suits. My friend Ray opted to wear my warrior dash helmet instead of the traditional Santa hat. 65279;All together there was about 1400 people, about roughly 1000 of them were Santas. We were quite a sight, I'm sure. And I'm pretty proud of how I did! My goal for this year was to run a 5K....

http://katierosewrites.blogspot.com/2011/12/candy-cane-vodka.html
Sunday, December 11, 2011. I've been slacking with posting lately, but I have a valid reason! My big project at the moment is for my mom, and since she sometimes reads my blog, I can't exactly post pictures. I promise though, once Christmas is over I'll post all about it! I'm really excited about this one I can't wait to see how it comes out! In the meantime, I'll share my most recent mini project. I learned here. Very few ingredients needed. Mason jars (I went with pint jars). View my complete profile.
Katie Rose Writes: Sugar Scrubs
http://katierosewrites.blogspot.com/2011/11/sugar-scrubs.html
Wednesday, November 30, 2011. Today's project was DIY sugar scrubs. Just like my honey butter yesterday, it was really simple and yielded a great result. I admittedly haven't tried it yet, but I did handle it a little bit while testing the consistency and my hands smell wonderful. I got the basic ideas from here. And tweaked it for what I had. All I used was sugar (granulated or brown depending on the batch), oil, and essential oils. The second batch was very similar, but I used honey almond oil. Waterma...
Katie Rose Writes: Twofer Thursday
http://katierosewrites.blogspot.com/2011/12/twofer-thursday.html
Thursday, December 1, 2011. I actually made TWO crafts today. Look at me- I'm a regular Suzy Homemaker. Except for that whole part where I still have no idea what I'm cooking for dinner. Oh well. Can't have everything. One of my friends is. an outdoorsman shall we say? He lives very simply and I'm pretty sure he keeps all of his money in his mattress. I had. They're not pretty, but they're definitely handy. And (like everything else) pretty easy to make. Let them cool completely, then break them up!
