Joining The Dots Again: May 2014
http://familyislandlife.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html
Joining The Dots Again. A family journal of our Trans-Atlantic life. Sunday, May 25, 2014. The Atlantic has featured heavily in our lives this week. The dark cloud of the missing yacht ' Cheeki Rafiki'. Hung over us all week as we waited anxiously for updates, helped with the petition to get the Coastguard out again and sifted through satellite pictures looking for the life raft. The news on Friday was heart breaking. Many of the yachts and catamarans here in the Caribbean are built in Cape Town and are ...

A journal of our adventures for friends and family. Sunday, October 28, 2012. Who needs an MBA when you have housework and Halloween? The Crew from the The Lost Ship. Photo by Emily. Links to this post. Monday, October 15, 2012. In the meantime I'll carry on wittering along here until we all lose interest, I'm eaten alive by mozzies or Blogger (the blog platform I use here) implodes in a hissy-fit of blogging overkill and shuts itself down. . joining the dots: February 2013
http://ijointhedots.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html
A journal of our adventures for friends and family. Friday, February 1, 2013. It has become completely apparent during the past week that trying to write 2 blogs is insane. What was I thinking? Well I know what I was trying to do: Neatly compartmentalise my life - family over here, cooking over there, big ribbon on top. In trying to work out how I was going to manage all of this and turn the new blog Island Family. Well that certainly gave me some food for thought. So just like a normal blog, in other wo...

joining the dots: Make the apron
http://ijointhedots.blogspot.com/2013/01/make-apron.html
A journal of our adventures for friends and family. Tuesday, January 15, 2013. The famous apron 'pin'. Funny thing is, is that my 'artisanal apron pin' is by far my post popular repinned- pin (I do realise that I'm speaking double-dutch for some. Please bear with me) which must mean that most people are just like me ie. armchair artisans. PS When silly old Blogger is working properly again I'll post a picture of the said apron. Bet you can't wait. Shall I post one of the slippers, too? My name is Julia a...

joining the dots: March 2012
http://ijointhedots.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
A journal of our adventures for friends and family. Friday, March 9, 2012. Grade 3B Working Hard. Nobody ever says how much they enjoy moving, do they? The never-ending tediousness of it all as you frantically stuff your life into black bin-liners (only to wait 5 hours for the removals people to pitch up). It’s just s. Omething that has to be got through. One’s own little private hell and misery for a few days. So the safety net has been taken away and as from Saturday 17. Our Carrot Bay house is really ...

joining the dots: Christmas catch-up
http://ijointhedots.blogspot.com/2012/12/christmas-catch-up.html
A journal of our adventures for friends and family. Sunday, December 30, 2012. This is how I did NOT look. Without a doubt the lowest point was having to go to a rather smart party in seriously grubby work clothes - in my case with a 'doek' in my hair, no make-up, tiny shorts, no bra (don't even ask why) and my oldest flip flops. So much for my 500 'pins' I've carefully been curating on 'My Island Style' Pinterest board featuring elegant white dresses, coral jewellery and jewelled sandals. Ha! Happy New ...

Aragorn Copper Whale Sculptures
http://www.aragornbvi.com/projects/whales
Whales have become a new theme for Aragorn’s sculpture. Their seasonal appearance in the Atlantic Ocean below his house on the north side of Tortola is a true inspiration. Translating their awesome size to copper has long been a challenge. However, in 2010 the developer David Johnson commissioned Aragorn to sculpt a pod of 4 copper whales for the clubhouse of the BVI’s newest high-end residential development, Oil Nut Bay.
