Springs (including Carrier Springs). For each yarn passing through a carrier, a carrier spring is used to consistently present yarn to the gripper and as a “ratchet” to prevent the yarn pulling back out of the carrier after the tuft has been cut. Every loom tuner has his own views about the size, shape and strength of these springs. Hence, there is a wide range of these springs available. In addition we make a wide variety of different springs used in different loom components:. If in doubt, send a sample.

The gripper is the component that actually picks the tuft of yarn and weaves it into the carpet. It is rather like a thin pair of pliers, with one gripper for each pitch of the carpet. Grippers are fitted, and operate in the same way, for all designs of Jacquard and Gripper Spool Axminster loom. GEL make a wide range (around 40 different designs) of grippers for all types of Axminster Gripper Looms. Our grippers have a reputation for being tough and hard wearing. Parts for Spool Looms.

Parts for Spool Looms. We no longer have the facilities to manufacture complete Gripper Spool Frames or Spools for Crabtree GSF looms, or to manufacture Tube Frames for Platt looms. However, we continue to manufacture other replacement components for these looms, including End Brackets, Intermediate Brackets, various brake springs etc. If you require any such components, please contact us and we will let you know what is available. Yarn Carriers - Greenwood Engineering

The yarn carrier, or carrier, is fundamental to the operation of the Axminster Gripper Jacquard Loom. It carries a number of different coloured yarns and presents these to the gripper for selection. The carrier is moved lengthways by the Jacquard mechanism, thereby presenting different colours for each pick. There is one carrier for each pitch of the carpet (i.e. 200 per metre).
