Greetings from Gangwon

Wednesday, April 15, 2009. A Month Has Passed? Wow I know I've been putting off blogging, but one month in between posts is far too long - many apologies! Things here have been going well, but it is definitely a grind. The hours at school are long, and there aren't enough holidays to keep morale high. I have one Tuesday off in May and one Monday off in October. That's it! There are vacations in July and December, but the typical school schedule does not apply here. Switching to good news, the band, Yu Se...

Greetings from Gangwon: March 2009

http://greetingsfromgangwon.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html

Monday, March 16, 2009. Overdue Entry, Been Trying to Settle In. Well my plan of blogging every Sunday has fell through, and I won't try to recap the last 3 (! Weeks all in one entry, but I will say that there have been plenty of ups and downs and I am happy to be here. I'll break this down by category, so you can skip any section you're not interested in. Every weekend, I meet more and more foreigners here in Gangneung, there was recently a big party with foks from all over the province, and most people...

http://greetingsfromgangwon.blogspot.com/2009/01/anticipation-and-anxiety-is-building.html

Monday, January 26, 2009. Anticipation, and anxiety, is building. Hello everyone, and welcome to my blog. This is my first attempt at one, and Greetings from Gangwon will chronicle my time spent in Korea as an ESL teacher. I decided to setup the blog up prior to my arrival, as it will detail the major emotions and significant moments I have before leaving. As for Korea itself, I am looking forward to several long weekends to get to know this small country. I have found a company, Adventure Korea, tha...

http://greetingsfromgangwon.blogspot.com/2009/02/greetings-from-seoul.html

Monday, February 23, 2009. Well I've finally made it to South Korea. It's been a long road but I am here. Right now it is 5 am Tuesday morning, and I am writing from my motel room. At 9am I will be going across the street to begin two days of orientation and training. Wednesday night, I will take the 2 hour bus ride to Gangneung to begin my Korean teaching experience. February 25, 2009 at 12:05 PM. Glad to hear you made it safe and sound. Sounds like an interesting first few hours there.

Greetings from Gangwon: Settling into Gangneung

http://greetingsfromgangwon.blogspot.com/2009/03/settling-into-gangneung.html

Sunday, March 1, 2009. Well, this past Wednesday evening I arrived in Gangneung. The following couple of days I got to observe classes, meet my fellow teachers, and also become familiar with my neighborhood. The top of the beach features a nice boardwalk, and the strip is loaded with restaurants and motels. The establishments with outdoor seating are the most expensive. Most of them also have water tanks with live seafood that you may choose to have for your meal. Thanks again for reading!

Thursday, November 20, 2008. Take a Deep Breath. So, I've decided to get a new one. In the meantime, I do have a few photos, and I've used some from the internet to show you the places I've been. I hope Best English School isn't reading this right now. On Sunday I'll be heading out to Tajamulco Volcano, which is the largest peak in Central America. People say it isn't as bad as the next biggest, Santa Maria, which is at more of an incline. We'll be getting up at 4 in the morning, can't wait!

Liberia now sports a small casino, ironically the windows are decorated with blow up shots of Liberia´s past from the 1800´s rodeos to the 1950´s building of the Liberia airport (which sat unused for a while until the tourist boom). Liberia now hosts the only place in the world where you can see Africa for about a third of the price of the ticket! I hope it works. Http:/ picasaweb.google.com/laurenb1981/Liberia. Thursday, October 23, 2008. Updated news: I just edited this blog, my younger homestay sister just got a job. Yay! Greetings from Ghana

Sunday, October 22, 2006. Well, it's been a long, long time since I updated the blog. I was getting a bit tired of blogging, but in honour of surpassing the halfway point of my Ghana trip this week, I decided it's time for a posting. Not a lot has changed in Ghana. I seem to sweat a lot more lately. Not exactly sure why. Every time I show up to work, people ask "how come you are all wet? Nobody can believe it's just from perspiration. And that's most of what's new here. When asked when it will be fixed, ...
