His lungs are doing well. He is now able to tolerate a speaking valve attached to his trach. He ought to be able to communicate via e-mail. Friday, March 26, 2010. March 26, 2010. Gregg is now in the VA hospital - 1660 South Columbia Way. Free parking. It has been very busy this first week -new equipment and procedures. Gregg was sick on Monday with a urinary track infection, so he is on antibiotics. To eat or talk until his left lung is strong and his secretions are gone. They did do another test on his vocal folds and they now seem to be working properly, so this is very good news for the future. Sunday, March 21, 2010. March 15, 2010.

Tuesday, December 22, 2009. Gregg has had a difficult last 4 days. He was again up to 14 hrs on the t-vent and they were getting ready to try and deflate the cuff again so that he could talk. However he has the bowel infection for the 3rd time. He ran a high fever for 3 days. So he has back on the vent and in bed. He is on another course of antibiotic. This time for 2 wks. Monday, December 7, 2009. Him back to his Rehab room on Sat afternoon. Which apparently is not frequently. So they did what was neede...

Wednesday, November 18, 2009. Please remember not to visit if you have ANY signs of sickness. Visitors are always welcome. The staff here is so wonderful and usually you are allowed to be in his room while he is working with the specialist. We have applied for Gregg's VA benefits. They would like to transfer him to the VA hospital when he is discharged from Harborview. Apparently this is a very good place for patients with spinal cord injury. Monday, November 16, 2009. Friday, March 12, 2010. March 12, 2010. 16 hrs today off of the vent. Things are going well and the left lung is working. We just had an appt. With our physical therapist and the wheel chair company. We are now able to order a wheel chair. This may take 3 months to get the chair- just depends on DSHS. Gregg is still hoping to get into the VA hospital- it is such a waiting game.
