Below, the den as it was after crumbling plaster was removed, and after the room was finished with built-in book cases. Click on the thumbnails to show the larger picture. Was originally on a corner. Wall was straightened and fireplace centered in the wall. New sheetrock replaces the plaster. Marble by Greg, Mantle by Architectural Millwork Installers Inc. of Holland, Ma. Page 6 New Work. Old Kitchen Floor turns into new Dining Room Floor. Click the left and right arrows to see more). Linoleum comes off the old kitchen to begin transformation to Dining rm. Plywood Subfloor comes off. Repair rotted sections of the Fir Floor. Remove nails and set others. Fill about 1000 nail holes. This room is 17X22! Had to use dark stain, but it came out ok,. The entire floor was covered with 3/4 plywood nailed to the original Douglas Fir Floor. The floor is then sanded.

About the Really Old House Project. The home was constructed starting the late 1700's with the rear, small original house having vertical barn board and hand cut timber frame construction. In the early 1800's, the front Greek Revival structure was built. In 2000 the addition shown was added, allowing a full kitchen and the master bedroom on the first floor.
