Of the Cape Peninsula. Black Sparrowhawks are medium sized raptors about 55 60 cm in length weighing up to 1 kilogram. They are tree nesters and secretive by nature. On the Cape Peninsula the black morph (picture on the right) is more numerous than the white morph (picture on the left). Of the Cape Peninsula. One of the most interesting things that has come out of our observations is the impact of Egyptian Geese on Black Sparrowhawks’ nests. Even if the geese do not actually manage to take over a hawks’ nest, during the confrontation between the birds, eggs and chick can die from cold.
