A doomed man needs no such elegant footwear." - Jack Vance, Eyes of the Overworld. Wednesday, July 18, 2012. The Extent of Charm Person. There has been some debate as of late conserving the 1st level Charm Person spell described in Men and Magic. First, though, let's look at the spell itself:. Range 12". ( M&M. The key word, here, I see is "completely." Completely. Under the influence, the spell reads. While what exactly that influence entails is unexplained here, it is not partial in any way. This potio...

Magician's Manse: AD&D Magic-User Spell Book Sheet

A doomed man needs no such elegant footwear." - Jack Vance, Eyes of the Overworld. Thursday, September 27, 2012. AD&D Magic-User Spell Book Sheet. I always have trouble working out which spells magic-user characters can and cannot learn. It's a horrendous bookkeeping mess. However, I like the idea that not every magic-user will know sleep, charm person, etc. but will have some of the wonkier spells, like fool's gold and write. Download it, otherwise it's nearly unreadable. Posted by Ian Burns.

Today marks the first character in FLAILSNAILS to take up the sword of a Legionary in Agrivaina. May receive any necessary clerical spells short of raise dead for free if returned to Roma.

A doomed man needs no such elegant footwear." - Jack Vance, Eyes of the Overworld. Tuesday, July 13, 2010. Debunking the Myth of Encounter Balance in 4th Edition Dungeons and Dragons. Let me begin by quoting from the 4th Edition Dungeon Master's Guide:. Let me repeat that even to the creators of 4th Edition D&D think that perfectly balanced encounters make the game stale. Hard encounters are two or three levels above the party, and can include monsters that are five to seven levels above the party. T...

Magician's Manse: AD&D Class Overviews
http://swashbucklershideout.blogspot.com/2012/09/ad-class-overviews.html
A doomed man needs no such elegant footwear." - Jack Vance, Eyes of the Overworld. Thursday, September 27, 2012. I wrote this up to give new players an overview of each of the AD&D classes. High level abilities aren't always included. In Segeo UI font, it fits cleanly on one page and is easily readable. Note that the bard has been rewritten as a first level class. My games rarely make it that high, so I figured I would throw those players a bone and let them go for it right off the bat. Pg 22 (12 strengt...

Tuesday, November 30, 2010. The last day of Daily Blog Challenge. The final post. I did it! I missed the first couple days, because I heard about it a bit late. I missed one other day because the internet was being flaky at home. I made a couple posts after midnight. In the end, I did it though. 30 posts in 30 days. Sean at Reality Blurs. Started it because he didn't have the time to participate in NaNoWriMo. I jumped on board because I wanted to kickstart this blog and write more about gaming. Again, th...
