http://greyleadandpaint.blogspot.com/2008/03/day-one-blogging.html

I think adults are living a bit to fast, and not enjoying the small, lovely quiet things. like letter writing (not blogging). i think about it all, and come back to this page with something a little more tangible . i have lots more ideas. x sally . Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). A wonderful place to be. David bowie is amazing. My thesis note book. Note from my work book.

oh dear!: The intimacy within small and hidden places.

http://greyleadandpaint.blogspot.com/2008/03/intimacy-within-small-and-hidden-places.html

A virtual page to document sally's thesis, the idea, research, drawings and stories behind the project! Sunday, March 16, 2008. The intimacy within small and hidden places. Possible title of thesis). I would like to explore the relationship between people and these spaces. Something else that is a related topic to my research, is a Childs belief in magic. From a psychological perspective, and the “fantastical” part of there brain, that is essential to their development. With-in a draw (my mothers draw).

oh dear!: March 2008

http://greyleadandpaint.blogspot.com/2008_03_01_archive.html

A virtual page to document sally's thesis, the idea, research, drawings and stories behind the project! Wednesday, March 26, 2008. The intimacy of small and hidden places. (more refined.). The gem of wisdom that stuck from the very wise book “the little prince” is that ‘ it’s the invisible, not the visible that makes something important”.   . Babushka dolls also invoke the idea of an infinite space, it opens and opens and open, getting smaller and smaller… potentially forever. Spaces that interest me.

crayons & cheese: May 2008

http://pleasingmix.blogspot.com/2008_05_01_archive.html

Wednesday, May 21, 2008. Artist David Capra interviewed in Blanket Magazine. A lot of my work is a result of collecting. I prefer to work this way as I can put down various unrelated things together on the one page and watch them create a dialogue between one another. Since an early age I have collected various things, like a strange coping mechanism, it gives me a sense of accomplishment when I look at what I have gathered together and life then feels more manageable.". http://pleasingmix.blogspot.com/2008/09/little-while-ago-i-started-side.html

Monday, September 29, 2008. A little while ago I started the side exercise of creating posters that summarise the moods and communications of the rooms and their content into a smaller, two dimensional medium. ie, if objects and their arrangements are a language, how can that language be translated to another format? Here's one of the finished posters, followed by a short explanation. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

http://pleasingmix.blogspot.com/2008/08/photos-from-first-room-swap-in-which.html

Saturday, August 30, 2008. Photos from the first room swap: in which Sally invades Purdy's room. Fascinating to compare answers from each of them about Purdy's bits and pieces. After some feedback yesterday about documenting this process I'm much clearer on the direction I should take. I'm going to guide it two separate ways:. 1 The "raw" documentation from the experiment (in a thoughtful format of course, most likely a book). Oh it's my room. hello my room. crayons & cheese: August +

http://pleasingmix.blogspot.com/2008/08/august.html

Sunday, August 3, 2008. This is the part where I take all my bits and pieces, ideas thoughts and inspiration and squeeze it out (gradually) into something wonderful and intriguing. From here I travelled in all different directions, but stopped for a long time at the idea of collection as personal expression. That we acquire pieces in order to communicate who we are - whether to others or as some sort of confirmation of our sense of self-identity. These are both amazing. November 4, 2008 at 6:09 PM.

http://pleasingmix.blogspot.com/2008/08/im-still-collecting-some-ideas-on.html

Friday, August 15, 2008. I'm still collecting some ideas on documenting this experiment. Perhaps I could "map" the bedrooms in a similar manner to this plant species labelling. I had the thought of physically using bits and pieces found in peoples' bedrooms to illustrate their possessions. ie: the paper-steam in the top left picture - imagine an old phone bill from someone's drawer cut up and used in my image-making. This picture is so great that I just don't know what to say. Thanks Penrose Annual 1965.

super lovely bits: May 2008

http://super-lovely-bits.blogspot.com/2008_05_01_archive.html

Friday, May 23, 2008. Excerpts taken from Sophie Calle Appointment with Sigmund Freud. I prepared myself all week, accumulating all kinds of answers. When the day came, I asked him for his opinion on the matter; and he said: "The smell of coffee." That was it. Then we changed the subject. Coffee was served. I stole the cup as a memory of our lunch together. Saturday, May 3, 2008. Richard Seymour spoke at AGIDEAS last week and talked briefly about a device currently under development. Saturday, March 29, 2008. Middle Top: Mast Brothers Chocolate. Middle Bottom: Chocolate Scrabble. There is so much room in everyday objects for a little more narrative. Thursday, March 27, 2008. Three of my most precious things. They are nothing spectacular to look at but hold an awful lot of personal narrative. I could never let anything happen to them. Sunday, March 23, 2008.
