Spent an interesting few hours on SUnday freeing my nuts off in search of the Night heron at Earlswood lakes.I was unsuccessful but had a really good time chatting to the other birders there and especially Kevin Groocock and Matt Griffiths (the starter of this rumour ). The day started off with a bit of a mix up over the minibus and we eventually decided to go local in cars (Did I tell you it was a bird club trip?

With it being a nice afternoon I thought I would go and enjoy a walk around the local reserve,and try for the Barn Owls again but must have been a bit windy for them,but I did enjoy watching the Marsh Harriers around Ness pit with at least 100 Swallows and Sand Martin and a brief view of a Bearded tit as it flew in to the reeds before it started pinging. The Gannets again put on a show collecting grass from the cliff top we then made our way back to the centre for a coffee and food,whilst we sat photographing Linnets and watching the Tree Sparrows with time passing and people leaving we headed down towards staple newk viewpoint at the southern end of the reserve where more Gannets on the cliff tops gathering nest material. I decided on a early start today and on site by 6.00 starting at Pursuit pit watching Common Tern and Avocet after 10 mins or so I made my way up Far ings road and heading to Ness Hide but half way along I was stopped by the purring of a Turtle Dove,which was my first for the year.
