Going on a bit of a tangent this time. a few things have happened in the last month or so that have really struck a sour note and i'd like to set the record straight. When people find out that my husband and i have three adopted children the almost automatic response is, "wow . that is so good of you to be willing to adopt.". Why is that people's response? Second of all, what does it say about us as adults? No is the answer.

But it feels like we are starting to get to the other side of it. hubby is loving the challenge of his job and the kids are enjoying school. Perhaps things might start normalising? I have a bit of a pushmi-pullyu relationship with one of my children. do you remember this character from the original Dr. Doolittle? There was this funky lama that had two heads . one on each end . constantly pushing and pulling each other and getting nowhere! One would go forward. Forcing the other backward. I love you so much! Hug, hug, kiss, kiss. You love me too! But you say she loved me and did what is best for me.

So i was sitting with my daughter reading her devotions last night. and the jist of it was the story of a girl who had lost her father and looking to God as her heavenly Father. all really good stuff. And then, because my gorgeous girl is at that very inquisitive almost nine year old phase started talking about "that" subject . And it got me to thinking about how do you tell the story of the birth dad if they aren't around?
