James Beard Raisin Bread. 1 package active dry yeast. 2 cups luke warm milk. 5 to 6 cups AP flour. 1 ½ cups raisins plumped overnight in sherry, cognac, or amaretto enough to barely cover. ½ teaspoon ground mace 2 teaspoons fresh orange zest. 1 egg yolk, beaten with 2 tablespoons of cream (to be brushed on the loaves before baking). Punch the dough down and knead for 3 minutes, return to bowl and allow to rise for an additional 30 minutes. F for 10 minutes then reduce the heat to 350.

I actually get to work on time because of the coffee-in-bed ritual. She's an excellent cook and great company. And she helped me clean out three years of abandoned hobbies and detritus friends have left behind from house parties and get-togethers. I feel guilty about that, but am so thankful that she was here. I've been up to a lot! Right around our first.
