Nurture. Nourish. Nest. By Small and Simple Things are Great Things Brought to Pass. Laquo; Maternity Clothes! Why I Nurse to Sleep. December 10, 2011 by Kay. I’ve been reading a lot on minimalism lately. and the concept really appeals to me. I’m a natural pack rat, from a long line of pack rats. Of course, none of us are “Hoarders” worthy, but clutter has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember (to my father’s frustration). Fewer belongings means less cleaning. So, back to Garnier Fructis I...

Nurture. Nourish. Nest. By Small and Simple Things are Great Things Brought to Pass. Laquo; The Simple Life. Why I Nurse to Sleep. August 25, 2012 by Kay. At least according to parenting books. Sleep gurus. And every website known to man. And so I spent nearly five months refusing to nurse my son to sleep. I’ll not go into the sleep deprivation and desperation I felt. Naps? I refused to listen to my mother when she suggested nursing to sleep. After all, what did she know? Times have moved on! And so the ...

Nurture. Nourish. Nest. By Small and Simple Things are Great Things Brought to Pass. In This Day and Age? December 1, 2011 by Kay. In a word, yes. Cloth diapers are coming back. In the last ten years their usage has skyrocketed. People are getting more environmentally conscious, more health conscious, and more money conscious. Supposedly the average child costs $2,000 in disposable diapers between birth and potty training! Pictures: http:/ www.greenmountaindiapers.com/prefolds.htm. Pics of a random brand...

Nurture. Nourish. Nest. By Small and Simple Things are Great Things Brought to Pass. Laquo; Well So Much For That Idea…. A Fresh New Start. April 28, 2014 by Kay. I’m settling in to the new house. It’s such a wonderful change from living in an apartment! A fenced in yard for my son to run around, no worrying about crying children bothering the neighbors, having a front porch to decorate, and having a garage are things that will feel novel for quite a while, I’m sure. Sarah and Danny: November 2011

http://sdgarcia.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html

Monday, November 21, 2011. Back track to April again) TOFW. Remember how I said this past April was super busy? We got to the main auditorium where I realized this event was HUGE. It sat a full crowd of nearly 2,000 women and girls (this year the did a combined teenage girls and adult women, splitting up for different talks on Saturday morning)! It felt like they were focusing on entertaining the crowd more than uplifting them. The lovely ladies (l-r) Kay, Elena, me and Jennifer. Hard to believe it's alr...

Sarah and Danny: March 2012

http://sdgarcia.blogspot.com/2012/07/march-2012.html

Friday, July 13, 2012. Anyway, I've actually got several pictures for this month, given all the parties. Mar 14 - Pi Day. Pi Day party - you've got to celebrate Pi Day with pies - we had apple pie, lemon meringue pie, cherry pie, coconut cream pie, chocolate M&M pie, and cheesecake (we let that one slide, lol). Danny hard at work . only to just realize he'd used the wrong formula, haha. Mar 16 - Danny's Birthday. Danny's 24th birthday - I made him a carrot cake with cream cheese frosting, just like last ...

Sarah and Danny: February 2012

http://sdgarcia.blogspot.com/2012/07/february-2012.html

Friday, July 13, 2012. And, a little proof that spring does exist in Texas . these just happened to be taken in February. I loved seeing all the blooming flowers and budding trees and the baby ducks on my way to work and loved the beautiful spring weather that stays for a week or so. And, one "upside" (I suppose you could say) of getting sick a lot was that I've losing a lot weight. I finally fit into my skinny jeans and my favorite sweater from high school! Sarah and Danny: September 2011

http://sdgarcia.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html

Monday, September 5, 2011. I got the day off! Very cool, right? Well, I didn't intend on one thing. Everything was going great, the banana muffins were coming out of the oven, I was nearly done with the eggs and was in the middle of making a birthday banner, around 7:30, when Danny walks in, all bleary-eyed and says, "I smell banana bread! And aren't you supposed to be going to work? There's food and presents. I'm happy.". More Tom Clancy books, yay. Per request, a carrot cake with cream cheese frosting!

http://sdgarcia.blogspot.com/2012_05_01_archive.html

Tuesday, May 22, 2012. Nov 24 - Thanksgiving. Yes, I'm getting behind, but isn't that just how life goes? Hopefully I'll be getting caught up soon though, now that the semester is over. So, still trying to finish up 2011 stuff.). I actually beat Danny and Dad one of the three games we played (Mom just wanted to watch), and I got my first turkey (getting three strikes in a row)! Pretty much the only pictures took all week. don't I look so thrilled? I was just tired after all the baking and shopping :).

http://sdgarcia.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html

Friday, March 18, 2011. Thanksgiving and other November stuff. Btw, none of us, especially me, are nearly the shutterbugs as Elena or other family members, so here are a few pictures we got). The lovely traditional Thansgiving feast. And of course, it just isn't Thanksgiving without nearly a pie per person! Plus, I LOVE my new glass pie pan, though it's on the big side for fruit pies.), and of course the classic staple and my favorite, pumpkin pie! Harry Potter 7, pt 1 midnight showing! We are both huge.

Sunday, January 30, 2011. The Wedding, pt 3 - photo shoot at the temple. I really loved the outcome of our wedding pictures (hence why I'm posting so many, I just can't narrow it down any more, lol) - thanks so much to our wonderful photographer! And props to our florist too! A local shop, I just told her that I've always wanted bright Texas yellow roses (not butter yellow or that awful sickly green-yellow, it had to be bright and sunny! Sarah and Danny: Fall 2012 - highlights

http://sdgarcia.blogspot.com/2013/06/fall-2012-highlights.html

Thursday, June 6, 2013. Fall 2012 - highlights. This past August we celebrated our 2nd anniversary! We decided to keep it low key since I was so busy at work still and just had a quiet fun night at home. In keeping with the traditional "cotton", Danny got me pajama pants with army on them and a "I love my soldier" tee. He got some new army clothes he's been wanting (sense a theme? Danny also surprised me with these gorgeous flowers! Some very beautiful gardens;. June 9, 2013 at 9:52 PM. Im so excited&#46...

Friday, July 13, 2012. Other highlights of the month (in no particular order):. General Conference weekend- Danny had a training in San Antonio that weekend; he ended up getting really sick (poor thing) and had to come home early, but on the bright side, he got to finally see some of conference - they've had training weekends every single general conference since he got here. Another party with our friends, a farewell / last get together for a bunch of people who moved at the end of the semester. Instead...

http://sdgarcia.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html

Friday, October 28, 2011. Yes, it's so horribly long, isn't it? Wednesday, October 26, 2011. Forewarning: this is kinda just a long rant.) This actually happened in April, but whatever, I'm behind in my blogging. I should've said no. The decorations at the luncheon. I swear it was hideously overdone. Do people really like this kind of stuff? The Riverwalk in San Antonio. Danny and I look like my mom's secret service escort, lol). Pretty fountains, must take pictures, haha). This was one of the natural hi...

Gringo is a taco bar. Not some fancy taqueria or an authentic Mexican cantina. Just an upbeat, inexpensive taco bar with tasty unfussy food and drinks. We love the 80’s and 90’s and you will hear tunes that get you dancing, singing and thinking back to your younger days. Bright pink neon, pink flamingos and trucker hats are the norm around here… grab a cheap beer, some tacos and relax.
