Grizzly Bear Ranch Wildlife Journal. A partial record of wildlife sightings at Grizzly Bear Ranch. Sunday, 19 October 2008. Grizzly on a deer. We watched this afternoon a grizzly bear who had discovered a deer carcass left by hunters. Such bears are stressed and we stayed in the cars and kept a respectful distance. A we watched she alternately fed and then, using her front claws, drew dirt and debris over the carcass. A fascinating and rare experience. An aerial view of the ranch. Grizzly on a deer.

For our first holiday of the year, we had a good start, seeing 10 different black bears, some of them more than once. They ranged in colour from deep black to chocolate brown and some of them gave a great show and made for some fine photographs. One of our guests took this great shot of a male impressing the ladies.
