http://group1fiction.blogspot.com/2008/04/main-literary-element-that-i-thought.html

Thursday, April 3, 2008. The main literary element that I thought about the most while reading In Country. Emmett is very interesting to me because its almost as if the war has shut him completely out of the outside world other than his few Vietnam friends. He does not like to talk about the war at all and he does not like to be around a lot of people. This directly relates to the soldier who returned home in. These two reflect each other perfectly, in they ways they were affected by the war. This is a g...

Saturday, April 5, 2008. Towards the end of the novel I found myself relating Sam to Frederick Henry from Hemingway's. A Farewell to Arms. Before this certain point in her life Sam seems to have lived a life that had no real meaning to it. They both came from broken families not really knowing what a loving and unending relationship felt like. Then, in both the novels they find something that they are truly passionate about and immerse. For Frederick Henry, it is more than definitely Catherine.

Thursday, April 3, 2008. April 3, 2008 at 4:56 PM. I agree with cory that the lack of a father figure in Sam's life ends in Sam possible wanting to become that father figure to Emmett in a sense, Sam has that tomboy aspect to her personality, maybe she is trying to act as how her father would be as a father to her. Friday, February 29, 2008. Week 7 Open Topic. All of these accounts that O’Brien keeps coming back to shows that those who go off to war are going to always be affected by what they have seen and experienced. The point that he tries to make about a war story never ending is truly understood by his constant re-visiting of certain events which he experienced. O'Brien, Tim. The Things They Carried.
