Chilli growing antics of a geek. Unexpected but welcomed heat. May 9, 2016. So we are finally through the worst of the weather this Spring, so I am told, and this last weekend saw an explosion of activity down on the allotment. Not just in plant growth, but in people! Some that I had actually yet to say Happy New Year to turned up. We are lucky, our allotment is such a hive of positive people, and who knows maybe so of it will rub off on me! Fire was lit, meat was charred… Perfect. A week on…. Address ne...
A week on… – Growing Heat
https://growingheat.wordpress.com/2016/05/15/a-week-on
Chilli growing antics of a geek. A week on…. May 15, 2016. It has been a week since we put out the chilli and tomato plans in the greenhouse, so I went to check up on them yesterday. In hindsight I might have been a bit brave to leave the auto watering systems to their own devices for the first week, but luckily they worked as intended! See below just how happy the chilli are. Chilli growing antics of a geek. February 8, 2016. February 8, 2016. As previously mentioned, work have taken a liking to my chilli growing habits and there is always a chilli based product or two in the fridge at work that can be traced back to my allotment. As we had started to run low I whipped up a small bottle yesterday to get us through the week. 1/2 Cup Cider Vinegar. With the onions nice and soft, add the pepper diced and squeeze the juice of the lime into the pot. Our sauces never last long befo...

Weeds, weeds and more weeds | kirkhamsplot
https://kirkhamsplot.wordpress.com/2015/05/12/weeds-weeds-and-more-weeds
Weeds, weeds and more weeds. May 12, 2015. June 12, 2015. Last night was the first time we were “down at the allotment” after work. It’s only a short drive (if we’re feeling lazy). We have no shed and no lock on the gate, so have to carry all our tools (and coffee) around with us. So, with a plan to do an hour every night, we got cracking. To be honest, it was really easy for me. I just sat with a flask of coffee and watched! Anyway, we have a huge raspberry bush (is it a bush? Mr K has been busy! You ar...

Still lots to do. August 2, 2015. Trying not to lose motivation, so after taking a week off, we spent a couple of hours down the allotment. It’s surprising how much we notice the little changes and although we didn’t even touch the huge mound of soil in the corner, we got digging! We need to get a move on, still lots to do before the dark nights descend on us. The mound is gone! 4 thoughts on “ Still lots to do. August 3, 2015 at 1:12 pm. It’s getting there! June 24, 2015. June 24, 2015. We have been going down to the allotment when we can. Mr K spent his day off there last week, sunning himself, but did loads of the heavy lifting and chopping! He’s getting a gardeners tan too! It’s getting there! One of Mr K’s Father’s Day gifts is already proving useful as I had no idea what to do with the aubergine plant we were given. DK Allotment Handbook. It’s now been “potted on” and growing nicely on the kitchen window sill. Liked by 1 person.

I’m hoping there is not an actual bungalow, which is what our kind-hearted allotment neighbour hinted at! Thing’s we need. 3 Garden tools. We currently have a shovel, a trowel, some borrowed loppers and bare hands. Slow and steady wins the race! Weeds, weeds and more weeds. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. May 14, 2015. June 12, 2015. After a few more hours hard graft in the sunshine! Having a few days off now. We’re not giving in just yet though. Weather permitting, we will be there, weeding, every day next week. If I had a pound for every time someone has walked past and shouted “slow and steady”…! Easy to say when your allotment is well established and producing lovely veg. One day…. Weeds, weeds and more weeds. 8220;Free weeds – Please pick your own! 4 thoughts on “ Slow and steady. 8220;Free weeds – Please pick your own! June 9, 2015. June 12, 2015. It’s been a few weeks since I last posted, so thought it was time for an update! It’s hard work but rewarding – although it seems such a long way off until we can actually eat the rewards! I find myself sitting at work, wishing I was at the allotment, gloves on, tools in hand… roll on the weekend! It’s getting there! 6 thoughts on “ “Free weeds – Please pick your own! Wednesday, February 6, 2013. Featured tomato: San Francisco Fog. This indeterminate plant bears small to medium size tomatoes that are red and tasty. It is a variety I got from an Australian gentleman last year. It should be able to set and ripen fruit if the weather is cool, foggy, and cloudy. We've had a hot, humid summer and it's doing just great as well. Very juicy fruit. Labels: growing heirloom tomato plants seeds. Featured tomato: Banjan roomi.
