Our Journey to Ethiopia: April 2012
http://nieuwenhuisadoption.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
Thursday, April 19, 2012. One of the most rewarding things about this adoption (besides the fact that we were blessed with the coolest little girl in Ethiopia) is the heart of her older siblings and how it has changed them. It really has changed them.in more ways than one. Today, after school, I had a Mom approach me about our adoption. Her daughter is in Aria's class. Come to find out, they are in the process of an Ethiopian adoption and Aria's friend will soon have a new little sister too! The Wickstro...

Our Journey to Ethiopia: Why adopt from Ethiopia?
http://nieuwenhuisadoption.blogspot.com/p/why-adopt-from-ethiopia.html
Why adopt from Ethiopia? One in 10 children die before their 1st birthday. Ethiopia’s doctor to children ratio is 1 to 24,000. Half the children in Ethiopia will never attend school. 88% will never attend secondary school. In the 90s the population (3%) grew faster than food production (2.2%). Drought struck the country from 2000-2002 (first year no crops, second year no seeds, third year no animals). Per capita, Ethiopia receives less aid than any country in Africa. Here are a few things that you're up to right now at ONE:. 1 You are walking/running all over the place! 2 You LOVE to tease your big brother Becket. 3 You have a squeal/high pitched scream that will break anyone's ear drums. 4 You LOVE your bottle- you call it "ba-ba". 5 You are saying words like "Mama, Dada, Eye-ya (Aria!

Our Journey to Ethiopia: Oh, the shoes.....
http://nieuwenhuisadoption.blogspot.com/2012/02/oh-shoes.html
Friday, February 3, 2012. Oh, the shoes. Carys LOVES shoes. She is obsessive about shoes. In her cute little voice, I will never forget one of her first words."shooos Mammmeee". Her favorites are Daddy's huge shoes, which I still have yet to get a photo of. Her latest is wearing around her 'five sizes too big' rain boots. She can barely walk in them, but that doesn't stop her! Every time I hear that clomping around the house, it brings a big smile to my face. Love my girl(s)! Keep on truckin' Carys!

This is Carys' real "taste" of snow.the first time she saw it snowing she kept pointing out the window saying "NO, NO! Yes, don't mind the ugly purple snowsuit.it was all we had.
