Rear View Mirror: July 2005
http://rearviewmirror1.blogspot.com/2005_07_01_archive.html
My more or less daily take on the news and other matters of interest. Friday, July 29, 2005. Security and Reality Part II. I participated in an interesting conversation with several co-workers concerning the bag inspection policy discussed in the previous entry. If all suicide bombers wore yellow baseball caps, wouldn't the police be able to check all people wearing such hats? Or if they only drove Toyota Corollas for car bombing missions, wouldn't every Corolla be checked on sight? Be that as it may I d...

Rear View Mirror: August 2005
http://rearviewmirror1.blogspot.com/2005_08_01_archive.html
My more or less daily take on the news and other matters of interest. Wednesday, August 31, 2005. The world just asks too much from the homeless or at least this is something my corporation believes. This little gem of information was included in a very long, and possibly Dilbert inspired, company-wide email detailing how the company wants the workers to form work groups to figure out better ways to recycle:. 1 Have everyone throw the cans out the windows so the bums can just pick them off the street eli...

Rear View Mirror: Don Imus
http://rearviewmirror1.blogspot.com/2007/04/don-imus.html
My more or less daily take on the news and other matters of interest. Thursday, April 12, 2007. Two million is a big number. 298 million is a bigger number. Don Imus' daily radio show has about 2 million listeners, that means 298 million Americans could care less about what he says. Now, just because Imus says a handful of stupid words the number of people who seem to care what Imus says has increased 20 or 30 times. All because the press is always looking for the next big "gotcha" moment. Yes, the Duke ...

Rear View Mirror: Ground Hog Day Revealed
http://rearviewmirror1.blogspot.com/2006/02/ground-hog-day-revealed.html
My more or less daily take on the news and other matters of interest. Friday, February 03, 2006. Ground Hog Day Revealed. I was offline for the big day yesterday, but wanted to post something on the giant weatherforecasting creature known as Phil. I've actually attended the official Groundhog Day activities at Punxsutawney and I can say it is more surreal then the movie. WARNING. ANYONE NOT WISHING TO KNOW THE TRUE STORY BEHIND GROUNDHOGS DAY SHOULD STOP READING HERE. Posted by Doug @ 11:31 AM.

Rear View Mirror: Whose In Charge
http://rearviewmirror1.blogspot.com/2007/01/whose-in-charge.html
My more or less daily take on the news and other matters of interest. Monday, January 29, 2007. Back another of my blog's pet topics, poor parenting. There is a story on Foxnews.com. About a German mother and father who allowed their 12 year old boy to undergo hormone treatments allowing him to become more female. This includes growing breasts and wearing makeup. What 12 year old is capable of making any decision passed what color sox to wear? And then there are the parents. Posted by Doug @ 1:10 PM.

Rear View Mirror: Ground Hog Day
http://rearviewmirror1.blogspot.com/2007/02/ground-hog-day.html
My more or less daily take on the news and other matters of interest. Friday, February 02, 2007. Last year I exposed Groundhog Day. For what it really is, a reason for Penn State students to stay up drinking all night on a cold and snowy hillside, but this year I'm going to expose myself. No, don't call the vice squad. I'm only exposing my ignorance. For no particular reason I decided to see when the first day of spring is in 2007. It falls on March 21. It then occurred. I am crushed and embarrassed.

My more or less daily take on the news and other matters of interest. Thursday, May 26, 2005. A bullet wound to the chest. Taking his last few breaths. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy. Hopefully all this news is true and this miserable excuse for a human being has been slowly dying for the past month. A nice infection that slowly eats away at his tissues would be the icing on the cake. Posted by Doug @ 4:41 PM. Tuesday, May 24, 2005. What Will Replace Star Wars? Rear View Mirror: April 2005
http://rearviewmirror1.blogspot.com/2005_04_01_archive.html
My more or less daily take on the news and other matters of interest. Thursday, April 21, 2005. All the hoopla over Pope Benedict XVI's conservative leanings is a collective waste of breath, print and electronic data bits. The Pope may be the titular head of the Catholic Church, but he cannot force any church member to abide by his rulings. So why spend all of this time worrying that Benedict XVI will be even more conservative when it comes to implementing church doctrine. If local priests were to demand...
